How to connect speaker to PS3

Hi all,

I have my PS3 connected to my Dell S2409W HD monitor through HDMI cable. I am currently using Creative 2.1 speakers connected to my monitor. I am getting very low sounds when playing games like GTA, but sound quality is very good when playing UC2, etc. Is there any way that the sound quality would improve if i connect the speakers directly to the PS3. If so, how do i connect it to PS3, i dont see an audio out pin in PS3.

Help me guys !

the ps3 has an optical out for audio... u can use that...

dunno how u can connect it to 2.1 though... normally only amps have optical inputs

Is there any device available to connect the optical out with the audio in of the speaker?

I have a similar sounding question. I use a benQ 24 in monitor. It (the monitor) has a audio output, a 3.5" jack. I directly connect my speakers to that, is it ok to use that permenantly ?? i mean can it cause any damage or as such ?

thanks box bhai !

i thought its supposed to be only a stop gap arrangement. now no worries !

as long as there is a volume control, the output signal can be controlled... so u don't have to worry abt it blasting the speaker/earphone

and ur welcome... :chair:

i suppose u using hdmi for boith the video and audio....do one thing use hdmi for video output only and for the audio use the cable which came with ur ps3...

the settings can be changed in the ps3 setting menu....

that is once he gets the optical to analog converter...

Nope, HDMI is is the best medium and can output audio and video of the highest available quality without any problem.

yeah but the guy is asking to output the audio to the 2.1 speaker system and the cheapest and d easiest way to do is to use the method i am tellling...

He has already connected the monitor to the speaker, which gives the same result of what you suggested.

What he asked for is a way to improve audio quality.
