The costliest one has motion flow technology i.e. 200Hz...

i have the klv ex 400 series model. The diff between this and the ex500 is that the ex500 is a 100 hz TV whereas ex400 is 50 hz. Not much difference to naked non-nitpicking eye. U google up on 5060 hz vs 100/120 hz u'll find out what it isI'd suggest go with ex400 and save money if its a lot cheaper. 240 hz is a gimmick and u dont need it

hmm...i think i might go with 40ex400 considering there should not be much difference between 50 hz and 100 hz tv....though will check both once before buying to see if there is much difference......for gaming and general viewing lcd is better than plasma??

Do one thing, take a blu ray with you and go watch if they have hooked a BD player to both. U wont notice the difference(if any) otherwise.

Yeah, LCD should be enough. I'd suggest plasmas, but they're for movie buffs. And its got its own set of hassles.

What hassles do plasmas have?

they previously had a risk of burn ins, recently i have no idea.

Also they hum if you are more than 6000ft above the sea level :happydance:

haha, but this TV itself isn't 3D. So why bother. I even saw LEDs. Thos edge lit leds by samsung are just a gimmick imho. just go with LCD or plasma depending on your usage

yea backlit LED is not really all it is cut out to be

Also they hum if you are more than 6000ft above the sea level

burn ins are a thing of the past

Its much lesser than before, but u still gotta be careful with long hours of doing the same thing. He's mentioned he wants to game a lot, so temp image retention will occur probably. Besides, the limited brightness, sot so satisfactory SD and bright room performance are definite cons. Plus the whole 100-200 hour breakin thing. Its great if you watch HD content solely on your TV, something which not many do in India.

Still take a a look at the 42 inch V series from Panny. I was quite satisfied with the colors and blacks of my new TV, the sony ex series, and seeing the OP's requirements, i'm pretty sure he will b a-ok with the choice he made.

^All that you mention are in the past, the technology has matured enough to overcome them.

IMO LCD vs Plasma comes down to whether you need 1080p or better black levels(from a very technical view 'cause I see no difference) till screen sizes under 50".Above that plasma is a no brainer.

@rithvik

I actually took demos so I'm saying out of my experience. I carried blu rays and even my ps3 1-2 days in my car to properly demo TVs I shortlisted. There was the LG50PPK the best LG plasma, Panny V42 series etc. I loved the movie performance, and especially the zero pixellation you see and natural tones and colours. But subpar SD performance was a dealbreaker for me. SD is still gonna be here for a while, and LCD does SD better than plasmas imo. Black levels are very good in LCDs these days as well and local dimming LED black levels are phenomenal I heard.

Also the whole breakin thing, precautions are still recommended by avsforums and hifivision. Burn in is very very rare now, but temp image retention is not, so u need to change content after a few hours. Its not much to do, but its still something u need to remember. Videophiles can go thru that hassle coz its worth for them. For the rest inc me, maybe not.

Waise if you are going for plasmas, the LG55PPK model is f**kin fantastic. 50 incher at 66k. U wont get a better deal. U can even squeeze a DTH out of them if u bargain well.

If u r goin above 50 inches, plasmas are def the way to go as they're a lot cheaper actually.
