Guys!!! now that i got me a new PS3, what are the things that can be done with my old one (apart from F@H) ???

The only thing that is wrong with the old one is that the bluray drive is not working ... everything else works fine..

^ wont be of much help - disassembly isnt for the faint-hearted and he has a NTSC-J (singapore) ps3 - parts/spares are generally available for NTSC-U and even then it's not a simple remove and replace process

super find!

@reaper - a couple of tech-heads that i know disassembled their ps3s and put it back together for fun - will email them and check if they will volunteer their services for the repairs (only problem is that they are located in bombay)

My bads

If the drive itself is not working, i don't think you can install YellowDog Linux on it.

The external drive might work under linux but i doubt

since you have 2 ps3s, you can easily swap HDDs and install demos & other downloadable content for your dead ps3...

why dont you install linux on the working ps3 and then transfer that HDD to the dead ps3,maybe it'll work

I have a Seagate 500gb GO, do you think it'll work fine?

Can it be used as extended HDD for my PS3(I got my PS3 yesterday only, so no idea yet)
