Samsung HDTV to PS3 via HDMI problem

I have a Samsung 32" Model No. LA32R71B LCD tv. Up until now i've been using an av cable (red/white/yellow) to play my ps3 and its working fine on SD at a resolution output of 576i. I just got an hdmi cable. The tv is hdmi compatible with 1 hdmi port. I'm trying to connect it to the ps3 through this hdmi-hdmi cable. If i plug in both the av and hdmi cable, it boots up prompting me that an hdmi connection was detected and asks me if i want to connect through it. I choose 'Yes' and the screen goes black. So, i change to hdmi mode on the tv and all i see is a blue screen.

Also, on normal av connection, i tried to manually change the output to hdmi. I plug in the hdmi cable and go to display settings and change to hdmi. The screen goes black for 30 seconds and then returns back to the SD resolution. Here also if i change to hdmi mode on tv i see a blue screen. I also tried that video reset thing where you hold the ps3 power button for a few seconds and it beeps twice. Still nothing happens.

I have the latest software update for the ps3. Any solutions? I really want to enjoy my games at higher resolution. :(

i think the reason for this is even though you are connecting via HDMI your default o/p from PS3 is av or component. You need to reset this default display o/p. Think its done via pressing the power button for like 3-5 dec

Already tried that (my original post)

It should work without any resets. Mine did anyway. What is your Samsung model? Series 5? Try connecting with only the HDMI cable

Here's an overview and specs for the Samsung TV . Its not exactly a new tv.

Ok, this is solved. According to...

Try connecting with only the HDMI cable

Right, so I tried this with the 32" but still no luck

However, I tried this on a same series Samsung TV but which is 26" and........IT WORKS! :nerves:

So, the problem was the TV. I should mention the 32" was bought before the 26". The first has 1 hdmi port while the newer has 2. Its service time for the tv.
