AtheK
well tata sky will add some more HD channels soon(though take it with a pinch of salt, this is being rumored for more then a year now). Airtel was very close to Videocon, but they f**ked up by removing star cricket HD and ESPN HD, and actually went bad then Tata Sky now. Videocon is the most economical too. piper
Bought Videocon HD, their guy came over to install today. In our building the wiring is supposed to be done internally, that is how all other DTH as well as broadband providers have done it. So Videocon guy says, "I do not have permission from my office to do internal wiring, I'm only authorised to hang a wire down the side of the building." There was already some internal wiring from the wall socket till the elevator area. So he says, "I will connect that to the antenna, and we only allow 10m free wire, so will have to connect extra wire. Totally there will be three-four joints." 3-4 joints in the wire!!! After having an earful from me and explanation from our building's electrician he agreed to provide the precious Videocon wire if our electrician does the wiring. I also agreed. Then he said, "I don't have enough wire, I'll be back in a couple of hours." The guy never returned, despite confirming over phone that he would indeed be coming over after visiting his office for "permission". What a douchebag... And I have bought their 12 month subscription... now will have to wait and see when he turns up and what new drama he does. My solution : I have DishTV SD with me, will have those guys over tomorrow to do the wiring (they usually send competent folk). Will use their wire with Videocon when the original nutjob turns up with "permission" to do internal wiring.
AtheK
that is bad, and even airtel gives only 10m wire, other then that you have to pay.
piper
I just want the DTH setup. Bought a new TV for my wife, and these D2H guys have screwed up the experience.
AtheK
Well on the upside when you get it running, it is totally worth it, so did you go with the platinum pack.
piper
Yeah man, 5644 for one year includes Platinum pack and the STB + installation included. That's Rs. 470 pm. Platinum anyways would've cost 460pm.

piper
Ya awesome and they will add any new HD channels too. Agreed. Seeing as how they are still trying to establish their user base, I am anticipating them to be up to the mark, content-wise.

Wow that's possible? Taking it abroad? I didn't even think of that. Also, for a software upgrade, connecting it to a dish tv setup, and keeping it switched on for a long time usually does the trick. Nemo
guys need an answer. Have 2 separate airtel STB and 2 tvs (obviously). Now got one more tv installed and need a connection to it without getting an additional connection, as in i want one of the stb to share connection. I know that this would mean the same channel running on the 2 tvs simultaneously. Question is, can that be done ? Some time back we had dish tv and there is was possible, but today i called the local airtel agency and the guy there feigned ignorance.
AtheK
Not sure how you plan to achieve it, one thing that come to my mind is using both output, HDMI and RCA. if they work simultaneously that is.
