Bird Bird Bird
Guys, been totally out of touch with the DTH HD world for the past year or so. Currently have a TS HD STB (not been recharged for a year or so). Some ques: 1) Have they added new HD channels ? 2) Do they still have the extra 100 bucks access fee ? 3) Is it wise to recharge TS HD or go for a new connection of Airtel/Videocon ? 4) Mostly need the usual FOX/HBO/Star World/FX/Comedy Central/Sports channels etc in HD (you get the drift). So if TS is green, which package to go for ? Thanks !
piper
guys need an answer. Have 2 separate airtel STB and 2 tvs (obviously). Now got one more tv installed and need a connection to it without getting an additional connection, as in i want one of the stb to share connection. I know that this would mean the same channel running on the 2 tvs simultaneously. Question is, can that be done ? Some time back we had dish tv and there is was possible, but today i called the local airtel agency and the guy there feigned ignorance. Depends on how you are connecting from that particular STB to the TV. If RCA then some cross-cabling should achieve the trick. If HDMI, then either of the following : http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Black-1xHDMI-Male-To-2x-HDMI-Female-Y-Splitter-Adapter-Cable-K0E1-/370651862782?pt=US_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item564c9296fe http://www.erodov.com/forums/4-port-hdmi-1x4-3d-powered-splitter-certified-full-hd-1080p-1-input-4-output/60782.html Guys, been totally out of touch with the DTH HD world for the past year or so. And they have an offer wherein if you pay 12 months recharge upfront (~Rs. 5700), you get the box and installation for free (savings of ~Rs. 2700). Just want to know if TS is still offering lesser HD channels as compared to Vid/Airtel or have they equalized ?
AtheK
Less the VD, but Airtel has more movie channels i think, TS has more Sports channels. Does TS get Zee Studio HD, i like the movies they show.

piper
I only used DishTV prior to this, so user interface is fine, you have all categories of channels, as well as HD category. Not sure what specific features you guys seek from the UI... if anything specific, I can check and let you know. One great feature is that the Videocon HD STB remembers the last viewed channel if there's a power cut or something, this was not the case in DishTV. This alone is a huge improvement. Not sure if other STBs have this feature.
Parvinder Singh
Lol, by downtime I meant if there's a fault then how quickly it is resolved. Btw is ui so bad in vc, ts ui is very sleek and neat. Does vc have a universal remote? How much for a fresh hd recorder STB with year sub of all channels? piper
The HD STB they provide has a USB port where you can connect storage for recording. The one with HDD costs about Rs. 3000 more I guess.
Parvinder Singh
Hmm ok. Btw I got call from ts to renew my sub. They said in April they are going to add hd channels of ten sports, and 3 hd channels of star network.
