Maximus
Guys, need some help here. I have a Tata Sky HD+ connection, wanted to go for an Annual Mega Pack, it costs 6000 online but have heard people are getting discounts on them. Anyone, who have purchased the Mega Pack and have received a discount and if we need to bargain with the customer support executive. Just wanted to have some substance when I make the call to them. solidsid
with the launch of the new GSAT and the jv between star and zee.. i guess it would be safe to assume new HD channels will be coming in the near future on TS..

theneurotoxin
I wish F1 was in HD too, looks so bad when you switch between two channels. It is in HD. It's just ESS, being anal, not distributing it here. It wouldn't even cost them anything.
Maximus
^^ I guess its more of a capacity issue. that's why they waited for the IPL to end to bring French Open on HD. Hopefully GSAT 8 will help improve the capacity constraint. Any clues as to when the benefits of the satellite launch will help improve the DTH experience? theneurotoxin
Why should ESS care about capacity? That is the DTHs’ headache.
Sherry Jose
airtel please launch some more HD channels..... Â I spoke to a customer care executive and he told me that they are in the process of upgrading all its SD channels to HD, which means that there is a room for improvement. Moreover, these buggers sms'd me that you can watch Star sports HD 2 days back and when i called them for activation, that guy told they are still working on it don't know why these kind of mess up happens only with them, they also screwed their viewers by not telecasting IPL in HD
Death Stryke
Yeah that was bad I think for Airtel guys. Anyway ipl is over. Now it's Wimbledon, F1 and EPL they should work on. Al though I'm sure Star sports will telecast wimbledon in HD at least.
Death Stryke
Why should ESS care about capacity? That is the DTHs’ headache.  Yah but ESS will get incentive of getting F1 etc only if DTH players are interested in the feed right. I mean, with absolutely no capacity available, DTH companies first priority will to lease out more space before looking to add new channels.  In other news, the recently launched satellite, from what i heard, it's initially being allocated to DD only.  We might have to wait a while till then. In the mean time dish and reliance continue to fool people by broadcasting upscaled feeds.
theneurotoxin
Al though I'm sure Star sports will telecast wimbledon in HD at least. Wimbledon was aired in HD last year itself so there's no way they'll be skipping that. Seeing as how Star & BSkyB are partners in Tata Sky, ESPN & Star Sports in HD, full-time with EPL HD being a timed exclusive is a possibility. Now, that, would destroy the competition. Â Yah but ESS will get incentive of getting F1 etc only if DTH players are interested in the feed right. I mean, with absolutely no capacity available, DTH companies first priority will to lease out more space before looking to add new channels. Â I can see F1 in HD driving HD STB sales more than Star Gold HD does but that might just be me. If even only one of the DTHs were to pick it up the others would have to follow because you get tough or you die.

Wimbledon is clashing with the India vs West Indies series, again if they have pick one over the other they might go for the cricket. But, Ind WI HD are not confirmed anyways. Very few takers for f1 in India.
