achilles
Man I am so mad I did no research before getting the Tata Sky HD box installed before the Aus open. Airtel has many more HD channels and Tata people don't even know if we'll get any more. I remember reading here sometime ago Airtel did not have ESPN HD whereas Tata Sky had so without thinking much I assumed Tata had a superior HD package and got this box installed and now I'm so mad. Grrrrrrrr...

DevilsOwn
so tata sky is finally getting the new satellite. got a call from the call center, and they are sending over a technician to change the wiring etc, for free, so that my box is ready to get all the new channels on launch. She wasnt aware of the date, but i am guessing mid march.
AtheK
good news that, i saw Tata sky reception at a friends place, it seems the quality was downgraded for HD channels not sure it was at the moment or if is that way all the time
DevilsOwn
the quality is down. squeezing in as many HD channels as they could the new satellite should help.

DevilsOwn
Why would you need to change the wiring? earlier they had put in a splitter. now they are coming to have double wiring done. the engineer is coming in some time, will let you guys know exactly what he does. ayush12ice
double wiring generally is for the DVR. The only thing that should change with new satellite is the alignment of the dish.
Maximus
Tata Sky is supposedly going for vertical polarity, whatever that means, but that would enable them to best utilise whatever transponder space they have. This can only be used in a short run sine over use of this may harm the transponder, so this seem to be a desperate attempt by TS to stop users from switching. For consumers to reap the benefits of vertical polarity twin cables are mandatory thus they are switching all splitters. I dont think it is for increased bw etc.. It is to feed the twin tuners present in plus and HD plus boxes so that you can record one channel while viewing another one.
