The latest VLC supports even hardware acceleration. VLC 1.1 I think. Get that.

And Media player classic with the core codec pack will work well. But then the core codec pack must be bought.

K-Lite Codec Pack is free which includes Media Player Classic , it contains everything u need to run any media file on any OS.

Can be easily found at Softpedia.

i have c2q q9550 + hd4890 ati

i like colours in WMP 12 .........i have win 7 64 bit

can anyone help me configure MPC with ffd show n all

Firstly, make sure you get MPC: Home Cinema. Right-click and go to options. Then:

1) Go to Playback. Check "Auto-load subtitles".

2) Go to output. Select "EVR Custom Pres **". Leave the rest as they are.

3) Go to Internal filters. If you have Haali media splitter installed, uncheck Matroska, MP4/Mov and Ogg. Otherwise leave ALL the source filters checked.

4) If you have ffdshow installed, uncheck ALL the transform filters.

Now your MPC will use the codecs you have installed on your PC to play videos.

VLC is a dinosaur. Can't play many formats, no DXVA, hideous subtitles, etc.

Just get MPCHC plus FFDShow, install CCCP, disable VSFilter, enable the internal subtitle renderer and you're good.

Also, KMPlayer users should try out this new Splash media player. Has lots of quality post-processing filters and the UI isn't as confusing as KMPlayer.
