^^ welcome..was having lunch...here in details.

Metal Gear Solid 2-Substance.....

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance is a multi-platform updated version of the original MGS2 released for the PlayStation 2, as well as the Xbox and PC. The game contains the main Sons of Liberty game with some subtle alterations (including new infrared effects for the thermal goggles and a new set of dog tags), as well as the inclusion of Boss Survival and Casting Theater modes.

The main addition of Substance is the inclusion of nearly 500 stand-alone missions (similar to those from Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions) with 300 missions set in a VR environment (including a set of missions played for a first person view) and 200 "Alternative Missions" (including bomb disposal missions) that take places in areas from the main game. In Missions mode, the player can choose between Solid Snake and Raiden, as well as unlock alternate outfits for both (such as Raiden in the Cyborg Ninja exoskeleton and Snake in his original sneaking suit from Metal Gear Solid). Substance also includes five plot-based "Snake Tales" missions starring Solid Snake. Due to the low production value of these missions, there is no spoken dialogue (plots are narrated through on-screen text displayed at key points) and all of the enemies and areas are from the main game (the majority taking place in the Big Shell). Exclusive to the PS2 version is the inclusion of a bonus skateboarding mode, based on the Evolution Skateboarding engine and featuring Snake and Raiden on the Big Shell.

Metal Gear Solid-Subsistence-Subsistence was released in Japan on December 22, 2005, later in North America on March 14, 2006,[9] in Europe on October 6, 2006 and in Australia on October 13, 2006.[57] Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence continues the Metal Gear Solid series tradition of follow-up enhanced, international version releases. While previous releases, such as Metal Gear Solid: Integral and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance included skill challenge missions and/or side story missions, Subsistence eschews the extra single-player missions to include updated versions of the series' first two games, Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake[58] (based on their MSX2 releases[44]), a brand-new competitive online mode, and a significantly changed camera in the main portion of the game.[59]

Subsistence's online mode. Here, the GRU team faces off against the KGB team.Subsistence's online multiplayer component, titled Metal Gear Online, is comprised of five tournament-style game modes, each with a capacity of up to eight players.[60] This mode pits players, each playing as a generic soldier against each other in deathmatch battles and variations of capture the flag, using stages, items, maneuvers, and units (such as the KGB, GRU or Ocelot Unit) from the main game.[58] Depending on server settings, each round the highest-scoring player in each unit automatically assumes the role of one of the main characters (or Reiko Hinomoto from Rumble Roses), along with unique abilities and/or items. For example, the highest scoring player on the GRU team would assume the role of Major Raikov, leader of the GRU, next round.[61] Konami's Metal Gear Online service for the PlayStation 2 closed in Japan on December 26, 2006[62] and in North America on April 2, 2007.

In addition to the older games and the online mode, Subsistence includes many minor features common to international version releases. It includes the downloadable extra camouflage and face paint designs and "Snake vs. Monkey" stages previously exclusive to the European release, the European Extreme difficulty level,[58][63] parody cut scenes and trailers from the official website,[64] and connectivity with Metal Gear Acid 2

Limited Edition" copies of Subsistence also include Existence, the game's cut scenes edited into a three-and-a-half-hour feature film with additional scenes and remastered sound.[44] The North American "Limited Edition" package was only available to consumers who pre-ordered it before the game's release.[68] The three disc edition is the standard release of Subsistence in Europe to make up for the title's lengthy delay.[69]

A bonus documentary DVD video titled Metal Gear Saga Vol. 1 was bundled with pre-orders for Subsistence in North America and with the European Platinum reissue of Snake Eater released in Germany on March 23, 2006.[70][71] The disc includes a five-part, 30-minute featurette about the entire Metal Gear series interspersed with an interview of Hideo Kojima, as well as trailers for various current Metal Gear games.[70][72]

Subsistence received marginally higher review scores than the original Snake Eater, averaging 94% on Metacritic.[73] Reviewers commented that the introduction of the 3D camera removed the "only grade-A problem"[74] and makes the gameplay feel "less restrictive and more natural."[44] The online mode is considered "impressive for a PS2 game", though "MGS3's distinctive gameplay conventions do not entirely lend themselves to the online action-gaming experience."[74] Subsistence received IGN's award for "best online game" for the PlayStation 2 in December 2006.[75] Selling over 1 million copies worldwide.

Sam...try to buy MGS2-Substance and Mgs3-Subsistence but if you want to buy one of the two...go for Mgs3-Subsistence.....

yup that why im screwed....might just have to play on PS2

btw the guy in the trailer is liquid ocelot? he wasnt in the previous games, was he?....so like solid snake and liquid snake were created from big boss' genes, they created liquid ocelot from ocelot (adam)? is there also a solid ocelot?

and who the hell are those weird female robots from the other MGS4 trailer.....one like a wolf and another with tenticles

peace

Its Revolver Ocelot where Liquid has completely overtaken him through his arm. Solid , Liquid and Solidus were created from big boss' genes. In MGS 1, Reolver Ocelot loses his arm when Gray Fox( the Cyborg ninja) chops it off. In MGS2 they introduce Ocelot fitted with Liquids arm. However Liquids personality starts showing up in him and by the end of MGS2, it completely overtakes him.

EDIT:

Spoiler-

I also read in one of my PSM magazines that Ocelot is actually The Boss' son(as she's dying, she talks about giving birth to him on the battlefield where he is snatched away from her by The Patriots.)

liquid ocelot in MGS4 is revolver ocelot and liquid snake

in mgs1 the ninja chops off ocelot hands, in mgs 2 they they transplant liquid hand to ocelot, so liquid snake slowly starts overtaking it. in MGS4 the body is ocelot's the soul is liquids.

and who the hell are those weird female robots from the other MGS4 trailer.....one like a wolf and another with tenticles

they are the new bosses called the beauty and the best unit, nothing known about them so far, apart from the fact that kojima is using real life models for each of them who are neither voice acting nor motion capturing for them and they obviously look nothinglike them

Hideo Introduces Beauty and the beast

During his press conference at the Leipzig Games Convention today, Metal Gear Solid 4 director Hideo Kojima discussed the bosses for the game. After a quick recap of the bosses found in prior MGS installments, Kojima commented that the work was cut out for them in trying to top those. "Now you know what I need to do in MGS4," he said. "I need to have even more incredible bosses. So what kind of bosses will you see in MGS4? The answer is in this trailer."

To summarize the trailer, it showed four bosses from the game -- all female. That is going to be the theme of MGS4: Beauty and the Beast. The bosses are beasts, but underneath they are beauties. "Yes, these are beasts," Kojima joked. "What kind of game is this? Halo? Gears of War?" But he went on to explain, "They are humans that have been transformed by battle. They are the ultimate casualties of war." According to Kojima, he chose to base these characters on beauty from the real world. "The world created these ugly beasts, but underneath they are gorgeous women. These ladies -- this beauty -- is real." He pointed out that the key to representing this beauty in the game was to capture beauty from real life, in women from different parts of the world.

This Game will Be :majesty: :majesty: :):wOOtjumpy: and 9th wonder of the world.......

nice!!

btw i recall some1 posting a while back about how the MGS cutscenes were so boring that they put him to sleep.....that person must either be out of his mind, or must have a really short attention span....that sh*t was insane

chances are that the guy you speak about never played the game.

who was it btw??

although im looking forward to playing all the games in the series now, not once while watching the 10+ hours of cutscenes did i wish that i could play it....the stories was soo engaging that i just wanted to know what happens next....i didnt once wish i had a controller in my hand

so what do you think about raiden, does he deserve the hate he gets :)
