The NBA thread

Figured this was as good a time as any to start this thread, what with the birth of a new superteam and all. So what do you guys think of the FA movements?

- Darko Milicic stays with the Wolves :P

- Wade, Bosh and LeBron to Miami.

- Nowitski stays with the Mavs

- Pierce and Allen stay with the Celtics

- Amar'e to the Knicks

- Boozer to the Bulls

- David Lee's going to the Warriors in a sign-and-trade

- Duhon to the Magic

- Joe Johnson got a max contract with Atlanta (oh dear)

Man, the Heat really pulled off a major coup this time. Gotta feel sorry for the Cavs, Knicks and Bulls. I wonder if they can build a decent team around these three, though. They only have like two other players in the books, one of whom is Michael Beasley who will surely be traded now. They don't have much cap room left either, so whoever they sign's gotta sign for peanuts. Chalmers is the favourite to be resigned and start at point right now, but if they can get someone like Ridnour to sign cheap, that'd be awesome.

Finally a NBA thread.

Just saw the news.Who's likely to fill the roster?

Beasely is just 5million $ and Chalmers has gotta stay.

It's academic now that Chalmers will stay. Also, word is that none of the three are taking max contracts so they still have some wriggling room.

Beasley wasn't 5mil, more like 2.9 or so (No. 2 draft pick guaranteed contract). There are tons of vets out there that'll gladly take the minimum to chase a ring though. AI's been talking about wanting to come off the bench and help, T-Mac's around as well. If they can keep Jermaine O'Neal and sign some good outside shooters (which they badly, badly need now), they should be good to go.

Amare got screwed :)

lol yeah, but he's been bragging about getting Melo and Parker to NY next year, so let's see.

Thing is, Miami got the big three but now they'll have to get the rest of the squad on a shoestring budget and minimum wages. I just hope they can mold their team into a championship winning side.

It'll be interesting to see how they shape the team around the big three.

LeBron James made a good decision for his career. If he wants to cement his name in the annals of NBA and win a couple of titles, I guess he made a good choice then.

Sportcenter quoted someone in the backroom saying all were maxing out at 16.6.At any rate they should be equal to prevent ego clashes.

Spolstera is going to stay,right?

Nah, three max contracts is not happening. They don't have the cap room for that. Besides, if the three want anything like a decent support cast, they will HAVE to take paycuts, which they probably are doing.

As of now, Spolstera is staying. I wouldn't be surprised if Riley the c*nt got the itch to start coaching again soon, though.

Open Letter to Fans from Cavaliers Majority Owner Dan GilbertDear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

Dan Gilbert

Majority Owner

Cleveland Cavaliers

LA's bench and backup improved considerably with the signing of Matt Barnes and Theo Ratliff. Not to mention Steve Blake, who will split time with Fisher thus giving him rest throughout the season.

Miami signed Big Z from the Cavs. They also have Haslem and Chalmers.

IMO, The Lakers are still the team to beat, especially since they haven't lost anyone, and signed three good players to strengthen their squad. Miami still have to prove themselves and get their chemistry going.
