I need your collective expertise/experience to help me with a problem i have.. the gist of it is that i have the same problem which 'TheLegendKiller' spoke of in his thread "Disc Read Errors".. now my console was a gift from a friend of mine in Mumbai.. (I'm presently based in Chennai..)..and he got me what seemed like a good deal at the time for a modded XBOX.. now - which part of it was modded..? i have no clue.. all i was told is any 'pirated' and NTSC DVD will work fine.. And it DID work fine until about two weeks ago when i started getting 'Disc Read Errors'. It came up suddenly..and now i'm stuck midway through a couple of games. I have quite a few titles now, and i have no way of playing any of them. This is clearly NOT a HDD deal coz my HDD connects merrily to XBOX live and the high point of my life has been the download of the 'demo' for Bioshock..as well as multiplayer 'Worms' on XBLA. ? Now my question to the boards here is - What do i do now ?.. Should i contact Microsoft locally (..and if so how/where/who..any numbers/addresses?) This is a modded piece.. there is no guarantee i can lean on.. i dont mind them un-modding it either.. i just want it fixed.. OR Should i wait till i get a chance to visit Mumbai (to perhaps visit the dude who sold this to me in the first place..) and be content with Worms on XBLA till that time.. ? vinitwins Posted December 4, 2007 Report Share Posted December 4, 2007 ^ microsoft india wont help you - they dont entertain modded consoles (you are sh*t out of luck once the warranty seal has been broken) OR out of region consoles (service available thru the Australian service center) - your best bet is to find a local grey market dealer who might be willing to repair your console for a price, or to purchase a RROD unit from the grey market and salvage its DVD drive - if you have the skills and knowledge you can switch it yourself (requires reflashing of the working dvd drive with your dvd drive's key) or pay someone to do it for you... Dude, when u land in mumbai, find some trustworthy and good source to do this for u...!! Its repairable but wld cost and sld be done in a very proper manner or else u wil just be left with white sh*t to carry around!! ( A modded console can be unmodded under certain circumstances, but fooling MS in this way is only for ONLINE XBL play, if its having sm physical fault and it has to be repaired, it cant be unmodded by any way!! ) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've wangled some 'business trips' into Mumbai next week.. and i've given some ppl some calls.. if there is anyone here who might know someone trustworthy in Mumbai, do PM me..
