lol ati rulz now. u need to seriouly get updated, new ati chips are so much cooler compare to those microwave fermi which hits 90 c at load compare to 50-60 of 5850/5870 :naughty:

yep ati is better until you come face to face with their drivers. or rather, when you see how much more nvidia drivers offer.

having said that, this 46x series is junk. no point getting them at all. might as well wait for the fermi architecture to mature.

ati drivers have been really good with 5xxxx series, check lastest benchmarks with nvidia 257. and ati catalyst 10.6 5850 beats 470 gtx in most of the games

real saving factor for fermi has been tesselation.but there are hardly any games supporting it.

From Fudzilla

It looks like Nvidia's upcoming GTX 460 card has s lot of overclocking headroom as we are hearing that even Nvidia gave the nod for up to 800MHz. Most partners, if not all, will go for a factory overclocked card, and some might even hit the magical 800MHz mark.

We already caught a glimpse of MSI's card that works at 725MHz for the GPU and it's quite a boost from the reference 675MHz, but we guess that some partners will go even higher. The best bet for the 800MHz card is EVGA, as it has always launched at least three cards and Superclocked version might be the one that will go this high.

240-Cores GTX 460 Matches GTX 480 When Overclocked

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465 has only just been made official, but even as its buyers find out how much of what reviewers said was true, rumors have already started circulating about the next Fermi adapter that the Santa Clara company has in store. Known as the GTX 460, the device has already become a subject of discussion at Computex, or, at least, this is what the folks over at Bit-tech seem to suggest.

Though early, completely unofficial and unconfirmed, the report described the GTX 460 video controller as a model armed with only 240 cores. Normally, this would hint at a performance that is much lower than what current GTX 400 cards offer and certainly less noteworthy than even the ATI Radeon HD 5770.

The other details unveiled so far include the 192-bit memory interface, 768MB of GDDR5 VRAM and a TDP of 180W. At first glance, the card seems to have what it takes to win against the HD 5850, even despite the lower amount of memory, but it doesn't look ready to take on anything bigger than the HD 5770.

This doesn't seem to be what the ones currently in Taipei think, though. According to the report, the video board will have a much better overclocking potential that its siblings, to the point where it will supposedly be able to match even the GTX 480 if tuned right. Granted, this seems quite far-fetched with only 240 stream processors, but it is still an intriguing thought.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 will be as long as the HD 5770 (8.5 inches), and it will still be quite hot. It should start shipping sometime around the middle of July. Only the reference design will be available at first, with custom versions slated for a later date.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 Review

To put it simply, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 is a fantastic product. It is priced right; it performs admirably; it is dead quiet; it sips power; it runs cool, and it overclocks like a monster without voltage modification. Even when overclocked, its fan kept it cooler than AMD’s competitor. In three out of the five games we tested, we had a markedly superior gaming experience. In the other two, the GTX easily matched the competition. There was no time in this evaluation whence the GeForce GTX 460 did not set itself apart as a superior product. Even when performance was merely equaled, it was quieter and using less power!

We are giving the GTX 460 our Editor’s Choice GOLD Award, because we have simply never seen such an incredible value in a $200 video card before. You can buy plenty of these right now at Newegg, starting at $199.99 USD.

Elsewhere, it will be interesting to see how (if at all) AMD respond to the launch of the GTX 460. They still have the upper-hand at performance-per-watt, and with just how similar the GTX 460 and the Radeon 5850 are in terms of die size and power consumption there’s clearly some flexibility on their part to change things. The Radeon 5830 must come down in price or go away entirely, it’s what happens to the 5850 that’s the question. We’ve seen the GTX 460 lock horns with the 5850, and while the 5850 is undoubtedly the faster gaming card the $300 price point no longer makes as much sense as it once did with a $230 1GB GTX 460 below it. AMD either needs a 5840, or a price drop on the 5850 to bring its price more in line with its performance.

At the end of the day NVIDIA has created a very powerful card for a market that has been overlooked for most of this year, and right now they’re setup to benefit from it. The GTX 460 is well priced, well performing, and cool running - 3 qualities we haven’t been able to attribute all at once to an NVIDIA card in quite some time. With launches and pricing like the GTX 460, the competitive landscape that we enjoyed through 2008 and 2009 is finally taking shape once more, and we couldn’t be happier.

/faints

But should be under 10 k when it comes to India right?

And I can even wait for more than 6 months for a handsome price drop

would be priced around 12-13k, nvidia screws up with pricing in India, i though hope it hits the 11k mark...

:D But still 11k is still a pretty good starting price unless ATI can go lower in similar class!

ATI will probably respond with a price drop of 5850, i can see 5850 hitting 250$ very soon...
