I've had ASUS cards all along.. mostly Nvidia except a 9800 Pro.. but not one of them has given up on me. All the systems with them still going strong. Right from a Riva 128 to the 8800GTX I currently use. And yes I've OC'd my Geforce 3 Ti once or so and my 8800GTX plenty. You could give ASUS a look.

I thought ASUS cards weren't available in India! :nerves:

I thought ASUS cards weren't available in India!

As far as I know, they are.

The Riva and Geforce 3 were bought in India. I don't know whether I got it through the grey market or an import or something.

However, my 8800GTX and a previous 9800 Pro (ATI) were bought in Singapore.

Yeah I have seen tons of Asus cards here. Aside from MSI, Asus is the most common one around in Nehru place.

MSI aint bad. I have had their cards crap out on me but the service was acceptable. Although having said that I probably wouldnt buy MSI again unless the price difference was worth it.

I do understand the 6 monthly cycle; but then again, this is why i am gonna upgrade close to the crysis 2 release :) Also, i do not look to game at very high resolutions with almost every feature on, so i believe this card should do...

Also, expect a slew of cards being released close to crysis 2 :fear:

Hate to break it to you bro but by the time Crysis 2 is out you'd have faster cards. The video card biz works on 6 month cycles. Though if I had to buy one today I'd go with the 1GB variant. I remember back in the day the 8800GT 320MB were plenty fast at launch and then 2-3 months later Crysis pwnd it bad. So yes the additional memory and bandwidth do make a difference even though the current benches show them to be close.

I'll prolly do an upgrade around Crysis 2. Right now my rig is more than enough for most games.

nah current gen cards can handle maximum settings without AA for atleast 2 years.4870/260 can handle almost every game with maximum settings and AA on aprt from crysis/metro 2033/jaust cause u can turn off AA for better performance.btw this are for 1920x1080

Jus 500 Rs. more?

And it's allegedly cooler than the 460 right?

Both have relatively same temps. Unless 3C equals world of a difference for someone. Power consumption at idle is less but at load is more compared to that of 5850.

Give it few more weeks and it will be down to 460's levels. Price cut is inevitable.

yup price cut is inevitable, but again it will boil down to personal preferences, at the resolutions we play 460 is a better bang for the money to begin with it cost around 1.5k less and then it gives you that extra eye candy of tesselation, better driver support and ofcourse PHYSX. I can live with around 2-7 fps less, until it hits 30+ fps i am fine, anything above that is anyway a luxury.

in the end it depends where your loyalities are, for me its a NV anyday, but for other it would be AMD.

But all in all its a great thing that this battle is happening, we as in the consumers are benefitting the most out of it.
