devil_angel
also other thing if anyone is looking to buy the card, Zotac is the worst performer, preference should be Asus > EVgA > Zotac In some cases, I've even heard that the Zotac cards don't even match upto the performance of the reference cards! AtheK
ATI Drops Prices In Response to Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 Nvidia stunned the video card industry and PC gamers earlier last week with the release of its new mid range graphic card the GeForce GTX 460. The GTX 460 has got rave reviews on the web and appeared to be offering the performance of higher end cards at a mid range price. This excellent price-performance ratio of the GTX 460 is threatening the entire mid range of ATI graphic cards and ATI's unchallenged market lead in DX11 cards. Now in a bid not to lose market share and protect its consumer base ATI has responded to the GeForce GTX 460 threat with a price drop of the Radeon HD 5830 graphics card. The company claims that the HD 5830 is the equivalent of the GTX 460 and with the new price it will be more competitive than the rival, but the rivalry will still not be easy. From now onwards the official recommended price of ATI Radeon HD 5830 1GB graphics card will be $199 in the U.S , which is equal to the price of Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 768MB. The earlier the manufacturer suggested retail price of the Radeon HD 5830 1GB was $239. Several leading online stores in the US have already started to sell the model 5830 at the new MSRP. There are also a number of advanced versions of the Radeon HD 5830 with increased clock-speed and special cooling systems that are sold at higher price-points. For now the price cut is limited to the HD 5830 but the price cuts may be extended to other cards as well depending upon the market situation. However ATI may not have the capacity to produce enough volumes of graphic cards anyway because Nvidia has reportedly placed huge orders of graphic card chips with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and left little capacity for ATI. TSMC makes graphic card chips for both ATI and Nvidia. Nvidia is also reportedly releasing new drivers for its Fermi core graphic cards later this week which will boost the performance of all Fermi based cards by 10 to 12 percent. Aftrunner
Fail Ati. Price drop should have been on 5850. No one is gonna buy the 5830 at that price.
AtheK
True, 5830 does not even stand a remote chance with that cost....it should have probably been made 150$
