moh is going to sink without a trace. black ops doesn't even have to be good to beat the crap out of moh. it's releasing 1 month before moh and i predict that's exactly how long it will take for the game to start dying it's inevitable death.

coming back to the topic, pachter isn't 100% wrong in what he is saying. it's just his estimate of when and which game it will happen with... activision will design a call of duty mmo and release it eventually, and it will not be the equivalent of the mp we expect from shooters. it will be similar though, because shooters these days already have persistent levels/stats/unlocks but for this new game, the carrot will be dangled a little farther away from the player to keep him subscribed to the game.

You secretly work for activision! :fear:

you've got to be kidding me!

Pirates will hack and rip the maps anyway and run them on separate servers which would be exclusive to pirates free of cost

Ah but stats and leaderboards won't mean jackshit then. That is a key feature. MP is all about bragging rights.

you are absolutely correct.

But you do know that these guys maintain exclusive stats for themselves too don't you. Not like the leaderboards but server level stats like top posters in IVG, for example. (and if anyone is confused I'm talking about the PC version)

But then stats don't become comparable between servers. For worldwide acceptance they have to play on dedicated servers, and that will be the draw for online subscriptions.

I've got to agree to that. But then, that's the problem of the pirates :P . It's a real pity that because of these guys, we are made to pay for the game more than the first buying. :(

guesswork. anything is possible with activision but i think even they wouldn't try to force a subscription model on the existing mp framework. seems more logical that they would design a game around the concept.

^^ He may have just got the timeframe wrong. Kotick made it very clear that he wants to monetise the console userbase in some way.

So it could still happen :/

Call of Duty players will be given the choice to "opt-in" to a premium model of the game, analyst Michael Pachter has predicted.

Overnight Activision, Infinity Ward and Treyarch refuted rumours that plans were in place to charge Call of Duty players extra to play online.

As a result, Pachter has readjusted his previous prediction that Call of Duty multiplayer will move to a paid model by the end of the year.

Source.

See this is what I meant. You keep flinging sh*t at the wall and hope that something sticks. Acti said no charges for MW2 MP so he adjusted it a little. If this doesnt pan out (most likely it wont) then we will get some other prediction.

Seriously. Please stop making threads on what this f**kstick says.

no kidding. from his latest 'predictions'...

"I am confident that the company will continue to move in the direction of extracting more revenue from gamers."

well no sh*t sherlock, that's what a company does... they try and make more money. no company ever tries to make less money.

he must think he is the gaming industry's nostradamus.
