I loved the graphics in oblivion n assassin's creed thts 3 years back in 2007.. after a long wait of 2 months.. i bought alan wake today.. the background scenery graphics r awesome.. but i didnt like the character model graphics.. its decent but not jaw dropping.. hav the developers got the max out of 360? can't push it any further? I feel instead of getting in 360 slim into market n mint more money out of same old stuff in new package... ms should consider a new console wit better processing power to handle life looking graphics.. n may be include a bluray drive. kinect wil help extend 360's lifetime.. but i want more from MS.. a new next gen console.. tht wil blow everyone's mind off best looking game i hav seen so far is GT5 pro.. i'm no ps fanboy.. kinect sports screenshots looks like wii sports Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
landmarktiger Posted July 22, 2010 Report Share Posted July 22, 2010 The reason why MS and sony arnt releasing new consoles is because they both took on huge losses for first couple of years for their respective console lifecycles. Sony was selling PS3s at launch at a staggering loss of 250$ per console and posted a loss of billions in their annual statements. Same with MS they were selling consoles at a loss early on and they posted a 1 billion $ loss just for the cost of repairing/replacing rrod units. They both have just started to make money fromt heir consoles in the last year or so. If they release a new console now- they will again have to pack it with features to compete with each other and take on huge losses for a couple of years. Also another factor is as graphics capabilities increase for the console - so do the development costs. Red dead cost a staggering 100mil to develop. In this economy when software sales are declining developed arnt too keep on raising costs even more. From this MS and sony fight, nightdone comes out to be a winner - because not only have they sold their consoles at a profit since launch, their install base is almost as much as both of them combined. Nintendo is sitting pretty right now and milking money- they can easily release a new console but why do so if they can milk more money. Mario galaxy 2 released months ago is still among the top sellers and nintendo never lower the pirce of older games. The consoles were far ahead of PC at their launch but PCs have overtaken consoles now. However a good gaming PC is very expenssive compared to a console hardware and excluve software to take advantage of those high powered PCs isnt really made because the install base is so low. Even to this day consoles are better equipped than mose expenssive home PCs out there simply because their resources are all dedicated to gaming. But at least they are better than Oblivion & Assassins Creed.Also,Forza 3's visuals are much better than GT5:P but GT5 main game's visuals are breathtaking. Lol, they have to be. It's been more than 2 or 3 years since those titles released. And the market aside, I personally feel that the xbox hardware has enough to last for 1 or 2 more years. I'm telling this because, it's only remaining competitor is the PS3. Because the Juggernaut of PC is falling into the market's hands. Take Crysis 2 for example. So, comparing the hardware diffferences between PS3 and 360, it has at least 1 or 2 years left! gaminggod_990 Posted July 23, 2010 Report Share Posted July 23, 2010 I agree with landmark tiger. the consoles have only just started making cash. although i dunno if the 360 hardware can last a couple more years compared to the ps3. i dont think it has any dedicated memory. plus the age old prob of no blu ray. neway, ms has said that they would like to release the 720 before the ps4 just like the 360 launch though theres a long time to go b4 that. MS makes money through licenses.. n people who own 360 or a new console wil keep buying software.. or may be sony n ms r playing a wait game.. whoever announces a new console first.. the other one will come up with a better specs Halo 3 graphics were not upto the mark those days.. but the gameplay was awesome.. gameplay is the only reason i still play.. Yest.. was talking to the shopkeeper of Sayonara, at Vashi.. asked him y doesnt he keep 360 collection, everytime i hav to order games in advance.. he says.. ps3 games r sold more than 360.. If kinect is over priced in india.. ps3 will surely take over the gaming market in india.. the graphics of Gears 3 looks good.. but cant compare it the wow factor that GT5 has. I worked with xbox 360 team at mumbai as evangelist in 2007.. then got busy with my work n the evangelist program died after mohit anand quit MS i guess. no updates or any info from them. Did you see the Reach limited edition 360 slim? Its pretty awesome. gravito Posted July 23, 2010 Report Share Posted July 23, 2010 Kinect possibly has extended X360 lifetime for 2-3 years maximum, so has Move for Sony's PS3 (although PS3 actualy life expectancy is lot more then X360). Wii has a strong user base but since both MS and Sony have stepped up into this arena of "motion free" gaming, i think it's Nintendo time's to implement a new design process off their new console right away. But seeing the E3 demo's i hve to seriously doubt how Kinect is going to perform. Oterwise it's almost end of life for 360 and it is evident from seeing what M$ has planned for Xbox other than Gears, Fable and Halo.
