Keeping games in mint condition

How do you guys manage to keep the games in mint condition. I take extremely good care of discs and still end up with some scratches. PS3 games are easier to maintain since the blu rays have a protective coating - but the xbox games even if i wipe softly with a soft cloth - it leaves minor scratches. Those damn DVD are so sensitive. Also are the original cases provided the best way to keep the discs?

Its not very difficult with the Xbox games as well. :) All i do is play the game and once I am done remove it and put it back into its case immediately. If you leave it out unattended, its gonna attract dust particles and once you try to wipe the dust off you will get scratches on the disk. Also never touch the surface of the disk. NEVER. And never place the disk face down.

Thats all I can think of... :fear:

One advice......don't try to over protect your DVD.....don't wipe it unnecessarily. Even if you see dust collected....leave it as it is. Once too much gets accumulated, then try with a soft cloth. But generally, after playing the game, jus put it back into the case and you'll be fine. Almost all the games I have are in mint condition :P

Some are nearly 3 years old!

hmmmm.... i practically dont do anything. I play the game. Dont even take it out of my dvd drive. Still most of my games are scratchless .The only thing I do is install the game I am playing currently. Just FYI:- Mine is one of the newer arcade models so yeah it has a better dvd drive than the older ones AFAIK

I think the devil there is that you don't take it out of the drive :P

For some weird reason I actually care more about the DVD boxes and the box cover. If a disc gets a scratch it doesnt bother me one bit. But if a box gets broken or DVD box cover gets damaged I cant rest easy until I have it replaced. I even replace boxes if the plastic coating on them gets damaged.

Also I constantly rearrange games on my DVD rack. Sometimes by name, sometimes by console, sometimes by genre etc. Whenever I get some time to kill (powercut, scheduled room cleaning) I end up rearranging the whole thing.

/Doesnt have OCD. :|

Edit And the fact that I have a shitload of PC games that are in cardboard boxes is a constant source of discontent to me. Everytime I look at them I wish they were in neat little plastic box like my Xbox, 360, Wii and PS2 games. One day I will get off my a*s, download DVD covers for all of them and rearrange them.

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuure. You do scheduled room cleaning and you're not even married

I don't even know what 'room cleaning' means.

I can do lots of stuff instead of wasting time like that. Even when there's a power cut or something, I'd rather bang my head against the walls for fun instead of doing something so hostile to my senses :P
