Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning

The combat plays out like a hack n slash game so naturally it feels better with a controller. However I know some people who have found it playable with the M&K controls. I personally prefer the controller though.

Pc controls are absolutely fine. I think its meant to be played with kb+mouse. Even though its hack-n-slash it is a true rpg by heart.

I found controller to be far more comfortable than kb+mouse... Amalur is more an action game than a role playing game... And we all know for a fact that action games are best played with a controller

But the menus scream "console" and like any true RPG you spend a lot of time using them.

The m&k controls work fine but it's.quite obvious that the game was designed with a controller as the primary control scheme.

You get KB/M prompts when not using a controller. Also, the game has QTEs during combat.

Thanks

I forgot to mention that I am a bit biased towards kb+mouse :fear: I prefer to play every game with KB+mouse even AC :fear:

Same Here :good::hug:

I don't think this game was hyped, neither it reveived good scores. And you don't want to finish this game? well, after spending 52+ hours, I wanted more. This is the first 'pure hack-n-slash RPG'. Yes, I agree with all the negatives you guys and the reviewers mention yet I loved it.

Same here. Despite the awesome combat and expansive world, I lost interest about halfway through... the MMO roots became very obvious with the endless question marks dotting the map in every new area. I love side quests but in a single player game they have to be meaningful. Amalur is a nightmare for completionists. It's better to just ignore the random side quests and stick to the important ones. Overall I liked the game but there was something missing.

@Dante, have you played Dragon's Dogma? I find the combat in DD better than Amalur and far more challenging.

The game is nice, but feels too much like a single player MMO. After having spent alsmot 3 years playing wow, this game was never exciting.

Dragon's dogma is an RPG :O I'm excited. Is it available for PC :wOOtjumpy:. Good thing is people liking the combat, I thought RPG lovers don't like fast-paced combat. Lets hope KOA2 will be good.

@lith - I've never played a single MMO in my entire life :fear: this is the only genre I've never played so I have no idea what you are talking about.

Nope, its only for consoles and also every true RPG fan would love a good combat, dose not matter if it is slow or fast.

The game had lot of potential coz of its great combat and setting . I am now just sticking to main part of the story , i am not even aware what i need to do, i just go where the main quest indicator showns up on the map ....Will finish it at some point... Dont think i ever will care about this game anymore but having said that i do want to see sequel coz it had potential to be one of the best release not just this year but this gen. So hope they do sequel with good production values.

Kingdoms of Amalur IP to be auctioned this month

The state of Rhode Island is set to auction the Kingdoms of Amalur IP via a website that’ll be offering its 38 Studios’ general assets.

In an interview with WPRI (via Joystiq), 38 Studios’ court-appointed receiver Richard Land said:

“The process is taking longer than we anticipated for a variety of reasons including the complexity of the game itself, we have engaged an auctioneer and they are developing an Internet marketplace – or website – to market the game.”

He expressed optimism about the sales prospect and the state of the work.

“The bulk of the game and intellectual property I don’t believe is stale because the artwork is current, the tech used to develop the artwork is current, the concept is a current concept.”

He added: “My understanding is the use of this intellectual property can be flexible.”

Joystiq notes that the main piece of the Amalur IP up for auction will be Project Copernicus, the studio’s unreleased MMO.

We recently learned that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was investigating the $75 million loan handed to 38 Studios.
