sagalime
ps3 went kaput today...... it wont power on.... when i press the power button light goes from red to green for a split second and then shuts down completely...i have tried holding it down for sometime to reset it but nothing happens... can anything be done by me...i fear it might be a power issue and i will have to turn it in for repairs......1 year SONY warranty expired 1 month back... but thankfully i took extended warranty from croma.... has anyone gotten theirs repaired via croma...? AtheK
i had the same problem, it is a PSU issue. Take it to croma, i think you are the first one who has an extended warranty whose PS3 went kaput, so we will now know how croma honors its extended warranty. devil_angel
^ Just get some glitter paint from the stationary store and paint your PS3 with that and it'll look just the same, may be with even more luster

dabba
Well AFAIK Croma offers extended warranty due to some tie up they have with an insurance company (Baja Allianz I think) not bajaj allianz... tata ... croma is a tata company too
sagalime
ok...phase 1 is complete. console has left my hands. i had to drop it off at JEEVES CONSUMER SERVICES. it is basically a room on the 2nd floor of kiran industrial estate in goregaon west. i asked them what they will do next, i was told it will go to the sony service center in andheri (that place is 5 mins from my house). i asked why i could not have taken it directly there, he says this is the procedure. Fine, but my disc is inside what about that, he assured me i will get it back. i made him put a remark in the receipt regarding that. i am a little skeptical, because he said that most probably console will be replaced, which will drastically reduce chances of me getting the disc back. anyhooo i asked him about the time frame, he said it will take a maximum of 15 days. i asked him why so long, he told me a long story about quotes, approvals, service centers, bangalore etc. one more thing he called my ps3 a psp on the phone to someone (which i did correct) so i dont know how much to believe. and..the wait begins....... Jigsaw
Am an extended warranty croma customer too.. currently in year 2 so this thread will be a good read. For the OP, look at the brighter side, you'll get a 120gb Slim. Hold your pants and expect a month. Had a friend who got his unit replaced under the standard 1yr warranty and it took him several phonecalls, praising the mother and daughter of the service center folk, threats of physical harm to Sony India employees and errr a month to get a new 80GB unit last year. landmarktiger
Obligatory I <3 MS Tech Support post. 2 day replacement ftw! Wow- MS really replaces consoles in 2 days here? I have dealt with M$ support in the US - they took about 20+ days to send a refurb console to my RROD whoch RRODed again withing a month . But this was during the early launch days. This might have improved now
