I have written GMAT with a healthy score of 720...for practicing, no point searching online...get the official GMAT guide (I think it costs around 1800 bucks) which only has questions on each topic to practice...it also contains questions of past exams - so the book IMO is invaluable...also if u want to practice more (which I don't think is required) - you can go for Kaplan 800.

Also I hope you worked on the basic concepts using the base Kaplan book for GMAT - its the best out there.

Also found the links for the books for you.

Official GMAT Guide

Kaplan 800

These books are all available in India.

damn it RDG, 720 is pretty 'healthy'. my 710 pales in comparison. No pun intended :)

as for the OP,

in addition to what RDG says, you should look at the following materials too:

- Gmat prep software (available free @ mba.com ). Full length practice tests from the guys who make the GMAT. And this is the best (and most accurate) test available for GMAT.

- IF you want to give more tests, you can buy any book from manhattan gmat mGmat store ; and get access to their 4 online tests. Which are again very close to the real Gmat. I found the Kaplan tests very tough, esp the quant.

and one basic suggestion. Give one of the full length tests (w/o the essay bit) prior to starting your studies. So that you know exactly which section/sub section you need to concentrate more to get your target score.

Best of luck.

I am sure 710 is pale :chair:

ya good points...thats why I recommended Kaplan for basic concepts - the CD which you get with the book is gr8...has a mock test for before starting your studies and then tests for each concept you study in the book...it keeps telling you your weak and strong points and then you can work accordingly...

The GMAT prep software and the Official GMAT guide. These are the two most important things you need (the only material I used). After going through these if you feel you need more preparation you can check other books for the respective sections.

As DO mentioned above - Give one full length test before preparation and one after you've been through the Official GMAT guide. That's exactly what I did.

Also, make sure that you do not waste the practice tests. There are only two of them. You may get different questions if you repeat the same test but I don't think it'll be an accurate reflection of your performance because some questions will repeat.

OG doesn't, but I was referring to Kaplan basic concept book for GMAT - which comes with a CD: an awesome source for preparation...

I got the CD from GMAT US - but I gave GMAT 5 years back, so things might have changed now...

  • 1 month later...

Yup more than enough...Kaplan is a bit deficient in maths concepts, so one would need a bit of more practice on it. Otherwise great material - addresses all the 3 portions of English section extremely well. And generally we Indians struggle with English rather than maths. So ideal for us.
