thanks to the PS3 HDD upgrade thread, i am upgrading my 20 gb HDD to a 320gb HDD.

Now i want to use the bigger drive as a media storage source too. So planning to transfer nearly 150GB of videos from my PC to this drive.

But -

1. PS3 wont play mkv . So which format is best to maintain quality/ resolution and be playable of the PS3

2. Data transfer - the option i have -

a. Use the earlier HDD as a go between the PC and the PS3? will the PC read the PS3 HDD

b. can i connect the PS3 and PC directly (using maybe a 2-way USB, if there is one) ?

c. or is there some other way?

OR, by a long chance is the Xbox360 better suited for playing media? Seriously doubt it, but...

You can use media servers buddy,they help with copying and playing mkv formats file on ps3...>

but media servers wont help in playing mkv which are on the PS3 HDD?

or am i missing something?

Well i use mkv2vob for media sharing and mkv plays on my ps3,

@django use mkv2vob

There was a thread back month or so

"Play mkv or bluray files on ps3", will try to search it for step by step but its pretty easy

Just download software, tweak your pc settings to allow media sharing and open media sharing on ps3, then go to search media servers..and it shld locate your ps3..>
