godspeed4476
I was facing a similar situation around 3 years back when i had the Hathway cable connection. I had to change my ISP. but assuming that you have a ADSL type conenction, you should try using a different router/modem and see how it works
Choron ka raja
It's a connection for the retards, by the retards and of the retards... It's fcuking BSNL! Ummm.. I tried connecting the modem direct to the Xbox and not through a router. In the automatic detection settings, the IP address generated was 192.168.1.1 and Default Gateway was 255.255.255.0 Whoops! I didn't check anything on the DNS! My bad... Now, is that absolutely necessary? BTW, one basic doubt. I don't have my computer connected to the modem while I attempt this Xbox - modem connection and also, in my PC, the connection to the Internet is done via a dialer and it is not in the "always on" mode. Does that affect the situation? And thanks for that link! Will check it out. It is mentioned in xbox manual and everywhere that you need an always-on connection. In your case, you can enter PPPoE settings manually. Those settings are entered in dailer program for pc, by BSNL guys. You can call them to ask the PPPoE settings, username and password for the same. Enter those settings, in your console, and connect directly through modem. That may work or not, depending on different ISPs and their plans, but it usually does. Alternatively, when connecting through router, DNS server should be 192.168.1.1 and IP address should be 192.168.1.xxx 192.168.1.1 is the home address, so that is assigned to router. In your case, your router is not responding to IP request by console, so, console uses the mask ip and sends the packet to every possible IP address, it can find. What you need is to send all the request to router address, which is 192.168.1.1 So, your settings should be like this: IP address: 192.168.1.25 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Primary Gateway/DNS : 192.168.1.1 Secondary DNS: 192.168.1.2 (can be anything apart from your ip address, cuz, its rather useless, in this case) Try these settings with router connected, in that case, router will do the dailer program's part. Third option is to go for any connection, where you don't need to use dailer program, and all you have to do is plug in the cable, and rest is taken care by router/modem. Go for airtel broadband 512kbps unlimited plan, if you must ask me. Kindly contact my customer support number, in case you need further assistance. CescFabregas
Wow Choron! That's a sumptuous advice! I disconnected the cables and stuff for now cos I will have to connect them to my PC to come online. I will set them up and try it again with this new piece of information and get back to you with the update... And I have already thought about changing my ISP to Airtel. Thinking about the new "Impatience" unlimited plans offering dedicated speeds of 2mbps and above! BTW, where is your customer support number? I will try calling you if I go ahead with this thing and need further help... @godspeed Hmmm... I'm considering a change in ISP as well. It's high time I stop being portrayed as a retard by BSNL! My bandwidth usage just cuz of browsing exceeds 25gb per month. Make sure, you get a plan which has enough free download limit.

But if I take a 512kbps connection, it will be like going backwards! That is of course subject to the relative orgasm timespan for which BSNL provides such good speeds.... Besides, there is only one Internet user at my place and that is me so 25GB shouldn't be much of a problem and I have firmly fixed my mind on changing my ISP! Will add you people on XBL once I get my account.. BTW another doubt... Now I have a doubt on the region codes of games. Is there anything like NTSC U/C games and NTSC J games? I have an NTSC J console and will a game that works on NTSC U/C console work in mine?

Yes, there is a difference between NTSC J and NTSC U consoles! Few games are region free though, so that means they will work. NTSC U games may not work on NTSC J console. Frankly, I have no idea if they ever worked. Also, you don't need a console to add anyone to your account. You can do that at live.xbox.com too. CescFabregas
But the images on the boxes of games say either "PAL" or "NTSC" only.. Why is that? Oh so you can create an account like that! But I'm only gonna sign in through my Xbox..

This is his first RRoD... Console was bought in India... What should he do to claim replacement from MS? If its still in warranty, and not registered, you will need to get it registered first, Don't tell them its RRODed before getting it registered. You can contact customer support and tell them you lost the bill. You will need to provide duplicate bill, to register the console. Or you can just mail them the pictures of serial numbers on console, and get it registered, which is quite a big process. Once, registered, just raise a support request online. Oh, if its already registered, you don't need the bill, just raise a request, through the account, console is registered to.
