The Assassin
Quantic Dreams' founder and Heavy Rain director David Cage has told GamesIndustry.biz that the developer is looking to go multi-platform for its next game, following the success of the PS3-exclusive 'interactive drama'. "The question is more for us now, with Heavy Rain it was right, but after Heavy Rain the question can be asked whether we should stick to one platform or open out to different platforms," Cage stated, adding: "Now that we're established why are we limiting ourselves to one share of the market when we can reach more? There are pros and cons and it's not an easy decision." Cage also explained why PS3 was the right platform for Heavy Rain, citing the console's Blu-ray capabilities and Sony's promotion of movies and "a more sophisticated entertainment experience" as reasons to keep the title a platform exclusive. When asked about Quantic Dreams' next project, Cage simply responded, "We're not looking at anything, we have people asking, and we're seeing different options." Apparently, Cage isn't interested in creating a Heavy Rain sequel, but the developer's next title is already written and good to go. Given that Quantic's recent output; Fahrenheit (aka Indigo Prophecy) and Heavy Rain have shared similar DNA, it's likely that its follow up project will be of the same ilk, especially since Heavy Rain was widely lauded and hailed as the beginning of a new genre now known as 'interactive drama'.
