MarketTantrik
^^ Thanks. Took several attempts but finally killed Stray Demon yesterday. For me, the trick was to unequip all my armor and accessories for maximum speed and go at him with my Zweihander+10 two-handed. One heavy attack from behind, jump back, wait for shockwave, move forward, one heavy attack, rinse, repeat. Also took out the Black Knight and he dropped the Black Knight sword. I was hoping for the Halberd, though.
MarketTantrik
Guys, I would appreciate your suggestions. I have a choice between heading to Anor Londo or staying back and trying my luck in the depths of New Londo against the ghosts before heading to Anor Londo. What would you recommend? (A)Kira
If you want to try for the Four Kings then you will have to kill Ingrid (spelling?). This means he will not be a merchant and he is really useful to cure curses. If you anyway choose to stay here, then I'd suggest equipping the gold ring to increase the drop of transient curses from the ghosts. And if get the key and drain the water, you will have lots of fun killing darkwraits. They are my favorite enemy in the game. If you choose to go to Anor then you need to be prepared for some frustration against the archers and Biggie and Smalls. But you will encounter the giant blacksmith here, and you can make you weapons into beasts. I'd also recommend making the Furysword from Qealaag's soul. This place is a good place to farm for souls, if you are low, after you defeat the boss. You can also detour into the painted world in this area for some cool weapons and spells. Elessar
Yeah, doing anything meaningful in New Londo Ruins will mean killing the merchant Ingward if you chose to do it now. So it's better to just go to Anor Londo and follow the normal storyline. Anor Londo has perhaps the best boss fight in the game, as well as being an online hotspot and a beautiful location overall. Clearing it will also open up fast travel and a host of other options for you. Should be your next step.

I was hoping for the Halberd, though. Enemies only drop the weapons they are using. A Black Knight using a sword will NEVER drop a Halbred. But the BKS is a really great weapon. Easy to upgrade, fantastic physical damage and decent move set (R2 sucks on that though).
MarketTantrik
Yeah. The sword is pretty awesome. My problem is that I'm used to the Zweihander and at +10 now, it's a pretty fearsome weapon.
Aftrunner
Hmm doing New Londo ruins might not have been a bad idea then. You could drain the water, get the Very Large Ember and pick up a bunch of Titanite chunks. That would let you get your weapon past +10 and really turn on the damage multiplier. You dont have to (and cant) fight the boss yet. But, once you can drain the water in New Londo, you can make the run for the boss in like 10 seconds. So its not like you will have to do the whole area again. Just drain the water, grab the Very large ember and the titanite chunks. That way you have a +14 or +15 Weapon before you hit Anor Londo. Thats what I do on my STR or DEX builds before going to AL. Anyway, been invading around AL for a few days. Maybe I will see ya.
Elessar
To drain the water he will need the key from Ingward, which he will not give unless killed for now.. Edit - Also, wiki says this - Important Note: On the PC PTD Edition, killing Ingward is currently bugged, and he may not always drop the Key to the Seal. It is currently unknown what causes this, but the key becomes completely unrecoverable (quitting/loading or visiting the chest in Fire Link Shrine do not work) effectively preventing you from completing the game. Dunno if it's fixed now. Edited May 27, 2013 by Elessar

Aftrunner
So? Kill him. 500+ hours in the game and NEVER had any use for him. He sells nothing useful and is located in too inconvenient of a place to be a serious vendor anyway. If you are cursed there are better alternatives and the only other thing he sells are transient curses. Buy a bunch of Transient curses (5-10 should be more than enough) and murder his useless a*s. A +15 weapon in Anor Londo is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more useful than Ingward. Actually Dung pies are more useful than Ingward. And Dung pies are almost entirely useless. Elessar
He sells transient curses which allow you to fight ghosts, and he can reverse your cursed status for a humanity. Both can be achieved by other means, but seriously, look up if the bug was fixed or not.
MarketTantrik
Thanks fro the tips guys. One more query: Zweihander +15 or Lightning Zweihander +5?
Aftrunner
If you plan on leveling up your STR then Zwie +15. If you plan on not leveling up STR then Lightning. What are your stats now?
MarketTantrik
I'll have to check, but I've been ploughing souls non stop into STR. It should be around 35 or so now.
Aftrunner
Then dont even bother with Lightning. A +15 Zwie with that kind of STR will absolutely wreck sh*t. If you can spare some points, level INT up to 15. You can pick up Great magic weapon in Anor Londo. Enchant the +15 Zwei with that to turn on Dark Souls - Easy mode. Oh and dont take STR past 40. Anything beyond that is NG+ territory. Get some more VIT or END. Edited May 27, 2013 by Aftrunner
MarketTantrik
^^ I would like to take STR to 50 as I have a couple of terrific swords that I would like to wield.
Aftrunner
I dunno, not really worth it IMO. Two hand those swords if you want to try them. You wont need 50 STR for that. Scaling with STR (and DEX) drops off fast once you go past 40. Those 10 points would be better spent in END or VIT. Infact all Stats drop off fast after 40. END, VIT etc. The only stat that is useful leveling up past 40 is INT. Edited May 27, 2013 by Aftrunner
