Dark Souls

M&K support could work. It would be a bit of a pain to use but it could.

I just want a decent port. Just as long as it can run the game at a decent settings without the frame rate going all Blighttown on us.

GFWL is an automatic win. I would have had like 600+ achievements if the PS3 version counted. :P

Having played both Dark and Demon's Souls multiple times I can safely say that mouse and KB will not work as well as a controller does with these games. It really requires fine analog control. None of the levels have "guard rails". You can fall to death any time... even when fighting enemies or bosses. Keyboard control will only add to the frustration. Even the combat won't have the same weighty feedback with a mouse/KB. So please do yourselves a favor and plug in that controller.

Is it even releasing here? Even if it does I think it will be in limited quantities... like The Witcher 2.

I'm getting the Steam version btw.

Don't buy it from Steam....

Steam version comes with GFWL just like Batman AC.....Steam + GFWL = :suicide:

Get the console version and buy the DLC when it comes out... that way you won't miss out on the extra content. I'm expecting performance issues on the PC since it's not going to be optimized at all. Besides it's primarily a console game.

And why haven't you played it already? :threatenlumber:

Dark Souls will come to Steam, will still use GFWL

Earlier today, we informed you about Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition’s latest trailer. However, we are here now to bring you some bad news. A lot of PC gamers had high hopes when Namco announced that the PC version of Dark Souls would hit Steam. Don’t get your hopes up though as it will not support Steamworks. In fact, From Software has officially revealed today that the game will use Games for Windows LIVE.

Dude trust me the KB+Mouse controls won't be perfect, you'll only make the game harder than it already is. Even From has commented that people should use a controller as there will be no effort to improve the KB+Mouse controls.

Get the PC version but not just for the controls. The game itself is one of the best games of all time (top 5 material for me) so don't ruin it by using the wrong control scheme.

Tyler bro .. You are one guy who i know has played them all RPG's ... Now i face a difficult choice where i need to buy one (don't have the time for playing more than that coz other Multiplayer games keep me busy)

Out of Skyrim , Dragon's Dogma & Dark souls which one should i go for .. The gameplay shouldn't be repetitive after a level , challenges must b rewarding you know what m talking about bro ...

So tell me know what franchise should my money go to first .. Also gimme the close second which i can consider buying when i have the time .

Short reply - Dark Souls.

Long reply,

If you want a proper RPG with questing, a storyline, conversations and freedom then it's Skyrim. The combat elements, weapons, gear etc however don't hold a candle to Dark Souls.

Now if you want a challenging action RPG and don't care much for side quests, storyline etc then Dark Souls it is. It's more of an action game with RPG style character building. The combat is very precise and rewarding. But it doesn't have the freedom which Skyrim has.

Dark souls isnt that hard. Honestly. Its way easier than Demon's Souls. Its also MUCH better than Skyrim (no idea about DD). And thats not a slight on Skyrim, I loved that game. Combat puts DS above and beyond.

For the umpteenth time - Dark Souls is NOT difficult nor is it "brutally punishing". If anything, it's "rewarding". You don't need lightning fast reflexes (like Ninja Gaiden), you just need to have patience. Yes you die a lot but death is a game mechanic, not a hindrance. Every time you die you learn something new. Plus you don't lose much. Yes you lose souls but if you're playing it smartly it's always easy to recover all your losses. Souls are surprisingly easy to farm. Compared to Skyrim the core RPG mechanics are far deeper. Every single point in your stats makes a huge difference. Every weapon, every piece of equipment you use is important and not just a cosmetic decoration. Don't even get me started on the depth of the crafting/upgrade system.

I could get through Dark Souls multiple times with minimal frustration (and I don't consider myself "hardcore"). Even beat NG+++. It actually got easier each time. I personally found Demon's Souls harder. From Software did a great job of balancing out some of the more challenging elements.
