Started the game. Killed the asylum demon and reached lordran. But I attacked the knight sitting on Firelink shrine and now can't kill him. Must have tried 30 times atleast. :wallbash:

Maybe I have to start again now. Not much progress done anyway.

Did the same thing. Was testing the game out at the time, to see if NPC's take damage. Had to restart game.

So I got the PC version on pre order from FK. Any chance its this -

And not some shitty repackaged cardboard box? I only ask cause its priced at 1500 instead of the usual sub 1k price. Is FK importing these?

Dude the Taurus demon is pretty easy.

Just make sure you -

1 Clear the tower right above you as soon as you enter the fog door (there are two archers there)

2 Enchant your weapon with the Gold pine resin you found earlier. Its time limited though so do it just before you go far enough to make the demon appear.

3 Run back to the tower as soon as you see him come on the bridge. Then do a jump attack off the tower. With a weapon coated in Gold pine resin it will take out like half of his health with one hit.

4 After that just make sure you roll around a lot while getting hits in. You can roll under his legs IIRC.

LOL yeah it can be annoying but there are often shortcuts scattered all around the maps. So keep an eye out for ladders you can kick down and doors you can open. Esp later on, the game is quite generous at giving you shortcuts from a bonfire to a bossfight.

There are exceptions though. f**k the Tomb of Giants and Seath the Scaleless.

The thing about Dark Souls is that once you face a boss for the second time (on NG+ or another playthrough) you will wonder why you had trouble the first time around.

I remember being stuck on Taurus Demon for a while before I ditched the idea of the drop attacks, farmed firebombs from the Hollows near the bridge and burned his a*s to death. But now I can take him on in a straight up melee fight.

Well the Dark souls Wiki is invaluable. http://darksouls.wikidot.com/

But here is the thing, I really would NOT recommend watching or reading any guides before playing an area for yourself. Half the fun in DS is exploring areas by yourself. You dont want that spoiled for you.

However if you get stuck somewhere then the Wiki is a nice place to start. Its got strategies for areas, tips for bosses etc. which you can look into.

Also Northenlion's Dark souls playthrough is really great fun to watch. Its not very comprehensive but its entertaining as hell. Spoilers obviously.

Lastly, a few tips to get you started.

1 Try to get the Drake sword. Most people can get by without it but its a very good weapon for new guys having trouble in the initial stages of the game. Here is how you can get it.

2 Soon you will be able to start upgrading weapons. I would HIGHLY recommend upgrading weapons along the elemental path. ie. lightning weapons. Which do crazy damage and require very low attributes. It will be perfect for your pyromancer build.

3 Sink as many points as you can in your VIT and END. The good thing is pyromancy requires no stats buff, which means you dont need INT etc to do high damage so you can just ignore them. And with lightning weapons you wont need STR or DEX. So just start pumping points into END and VIT. Soon you will have so much health you will be able to tank most bosses easily.

4 If you are having a tough time with a boss, summon for help. Either NPCs or real players. If you are in human form you will be able to see summon signs on the ground. White colored writing.

5 Upgrade your Estus flask. You can get 2 upgrades very early in the game.

And make sure you WATCH THIS -

Summon for help. :P

That fight its a bitch to do solo.

Alternatively, if you are hellbent on being a man about it, run up the broken stairs to the left as soon as the fight starts. Wait for the Demon and the dogs to separate and then jump down. Then kill the dogs first. Ignore the demon until both the dogs are dead. After that, the fight is a piece of cake. :)

Another way to get a good sword is to kill the Merchant in Undead Burg (the first one you meet, been long time since I played this game). Think he drops Uchighatana.

If you can level it up to a Lightning Uchighatana, you can kill everyone easily.

And killing player when they are ready for a boss fight is fun :harhar: .

I got a lightning Uchighatana and stayed below level 5 or 6 deliberately, so that I could kill newbies when they tried to go up to fight the gargoyles.

Bullshit like this^^ is exactly why PVP is f**ked to hell in this game. Its not as bad as twinking but its disgusting on its own. Its like brining a rocket launcher to a knife fight.

Most people have no sense of fair play, no need of wanting to challenge themselves, no skills and are just looking to stack the odds in their favor. One step below people who use aimbots in MP. Scum.
