The lightning bolt thingy is reward for joining 'Warrior of Sunlight' covenant. I think you need faith level 25 for joining that covenant (reduces by 5 everytime you help someone finish a boss fight when they summon you). The place to join that covenant is below that dragon on the bridge (Put on some fire protection gear and just run across the bridge. There is a bonfire, on activating it the dragon flies away). You have to give Sunlight medals for getting more powerful lightning weapons, but faith requirement increases for each new lightning weapon.

Summoning Solaire during boss fights will get you the medals. Also helping others when they summon you for boss fights gets you those medals.

Edit - Wiki page for Dark Souls. Has all the possible info about Dark Souls (New content is not updated completely).

lol......no summons can help you there. Maybe try wearing gears with good poise.

He will start the sweeping move when you reach that inner circle like structure near him. So you can try jumping when you see the sweeping arm and just drop off the edge (where there are two extra tiles projecting out).

I would wear the stamina recovering gear (Mask of Child, Grass Crest shield) and then keep running as fast as I can. Then would slow down as I reach near the inner circle (so that stamina recovers quickly) and then continue running as fast as I can.

That is some super cheap boss in Dark Souls. The suckiest boss as there is no actual challenge defeating him other than timing the runs.

The release date is very bad for the PREPARE TO DIE EDITION :(

It releases on 27th OCT and we get AC3 on 31st Oct. Guess i would have to wait a bit out :(

Guys, you sure the release date is 27th October ? I was hoping for the same. But, my local store guy said its 30th November, according to his distributors.

Again is the prepare to die edition just like the GOTY for DS?

Yeah, It is like a GOTY edition. Has the Original game along with the new content.

Finished the Manus fight and it was easy. Just long and tedious. With a shield with good stability, Poise Ring, Silver pendant and about 10 estus flask, you can finish the fight without Sifs' help.

Anyone have any idea on the use of the guardian Soul. Wiki says it has no use, so was planning to use it for leveling up.

Got two dragons to kill, Gwyn and then on to NG+.

Whew...finally killed Kalameet. Took three tries to get rid of him. Took a good 20-25 mins to kill him using Lightning Uchi and about 10-12 Estus flask.

There are no fukin summons in the new content for help. Looks like very few people play it.

No to kill the pussy Gwyn and on to NG+.

Kalameet (and to some extent the other DLC bosses) is super resistant to elemental weapons. I had an absolute bitch of a time killing him with my fully maxxed out lightning Halbred. Even had a summon to help (who was also using Lightning weapon) and we only made it by the skin of our teeth.

On my other character with a +15 Baller swag sword and Crystal magic weapon, he went down like a soft ball of fur. And that was solo with no help.

I put max points in Dex in almost all my builds and I use Katanas (Uchi, by killing the first merchant in Undead Parish). It scales with Dex and causes bleed damage after 3-4 hits. You can also join the Forest Hunter covenant and buy Iato and Washing Pole, from Shiva at Blighttown (bonfire closest to Queelag). You can also use a Balder Side sword, fully upgraded, for Dex build. If you use weapon buffs on upgraded weapons, they do more damage than elemental weapons.

If you upgrade the weapons to do elemental damage then points in Dex don't matter. Once I reach Anor Londo, I upgrade them to do lightning damage, so Dex points don't matter.

Edit - I think most weapons max around 40 Dex (Incremental damage after 40Dex aren't that great), so not sure how useful putting 50 points in dex helps. Put additional points in Faith/Int to get powerful weapons buff.

Pound for pound with only points in DEX, Uchi will do more damage than a Balder Side Sword. And even though the Balder side sword also scales (slightly) with STR still the max damage output on the Uchi is higher.

But the thing is the damage isnt the only thing you have to consider. What makes the Balder side sword better (IMO) is the better move set (longer range in swings), more stamina friendly and better durability.

I tested with stamina at around 40 and the the Uchi gave me 8 normal swings while the Balder sword gave me 10 swings before my Stamina drained out. So even though the Uchi does more damage, the Baller swag sword uses about 25% less stamina per swing.

To get the Balder side sword put on your Covetous Gold Serpent ring on top of sens fortress and start killing those two Balder knights close to the bonfire.

Dark Souls by a HUUUUUUGE margin.

I still like Demons souls and its a pretty good game. But I just cant go back to it after playing DaS. Although, one thing that DeS does better is atmosphere. Some levels are straight up terrifying.

Still if you liked Dark Souls getting Demon's Souls is a no brainer. Just be temper expectations a bit.
