Nikushimi
You will get an option to invade his realm as a spirit later on. You can kill him then and get the armor and ring.
meaNmachine
No. You only get his ring you kill him early on. His armor is pretty average though. But the fight you have with him later on is very cool. Great, will deal with him later then

zen
Two questions: 1) while playing has anybody seen a weird ring shaped thing that floats near the ground, and then disappears. It looks like the ring you touch to get to Anor Londo. At first i thought it was a graphical glitch, but my heal spell also shows a ring on it when i come near the ring. 2) dried fingers: i know it works so that the invasion clock is reset and you get more invasio does it also work the other way round, ie. put you at the top for finding worlds to invade. I am in the forest hunters covenant and it gets kind of dull to sit around waiting for a right session.

Where Alvina summons us to invade players entering the forest. First time it was 1 vs 1 and i killed him. But after that every time it is 1 vs 2 People are just waiting there with their friends to farm souls. Cheap. How many players do i have to kill for Alvina? And which Ring do i get as a reward? EDIT : Killed that merchant in Undead Burg to get the Uchigatana awesome sword with amazing bleed effect. Upgraded that beauty to +5. What other upgrades work best with Uchi? Aftrunner
The weird rings are places where other people who are playing online have used their magic spells. So if you use a similar magic spell (like your Heal spell showed a ring) close by to the ring then its way more effective. The dried finger doesnt work like that AFAIK. If you are looking to invade, its much better to be a darkwraith. Or if you have the PC DLC, find the red soapstone and go to the Oolacile township bonfire. Its literally the unofficial PvP arena. I get invaded there like every 30 seconds. And if you put your red soapstone sign down then you get summoned for a fight pretty quickly too. That is the sort of ridiculous, counter-intuitive but mysterious game-design i love about this game. Have been playing for 6 months on and off, but i still find out something new every time i play. They won't make them like this one ever again.
Aftrunner
I wouldnt really call it a good thing though. I think there are things about DaS that are worth preserving in future sequels. The excellent combat, the brilliant level design, the superb enemy variety, boss fights, difficulty, hidden areas etc. But there are things they need to explain better to the players. When your player base has problems doing simple things like co op, joining covenants, finding blacksmiths to upgrade weapons (the one in catacombs is so easy to miss its ridiculous) etc you know you are getting too cryptic. Then there is the even more cryptic stuff like those rings, the Vagrants etc that make absolute no sense until you read about them somewhere. Nikushimi
Talking about being too cryptic, was anyone able to figure out the plot, the lore and the back stories of various NPC's without reading them online?
Params7
lore isn't that mysterious. You just have to inspect a lot of items. For npc's, you have to remember to talk to them at different points of the game. Sometimes you have to talk to them multiple times to get more information. The lore told in cut scenes is very symbolic/cryptic though.

I see your point, but some might argue that the game's popularity stems from all the info it withholds. It is the game i have read up most about, there are pages and pages of info on the net. If it was more approachable about how it parcelled its info about it wouldnt seem so mysterious and dense. There is always reasons to play again because there is reams you will miss the first time. On the other hand, i had no idea there was a blacksmith in the catacombs until i saw this post.
Nikushimi
So I got a new pyromancy flame from that Engyii dude. I am using that for power within (my old flame was ascended to +8 or something) along with a +15 Uchi buffed with GMW and this setup is borderline OP. I pretty much forgo dodging and defending with this setup. A few slashes from the dual wielded katana ends all the boss fights. Nikushimi
Defeated Artorias and Manus on my first try, though admittedly I had help from a summon. Now I feel like I missed out on two great boss battles since it was so easy. I didn't even get to see their full set of moves Never summoning help again before facing a boss solo and dying multiple times. Aftrunner
Artorias is a fantastic boss fight solo. If you are a melee fighter. If you are a Sorcerer, esp a low level sorcerer like me on my current build. Its a bit of a bitch. Cant even find summons to help me. :/

meaNmachine
Melee dex build with +15 Uchi and a fully upgraded Black Iron set. Godammit Same here, Dex build with Uchi +10. Is magic/fire a good upgrade path for Uchi? I plan on having 40+ Dex so +15 would result in more damage right? Found this weapon upgrade chart. Useful for anyone still confused about weapon upgrades. Nikushimi
Yeah +15 would net you more damage if you have the right stats. Besides, a normal Uchi can be buffed with spells , unlike the elemental versions.
Nikushimi
Finished the game. Ideally you shouldn't go above SL 80 in your first play through, or things get mighty boring towards the end. I was at SL 100 and Gywn's attacks barely posed any threat to my HP pool. I was able to go toe to toe with him, just hacking away, rock em' sock em' robots style and came out victorious. I was like "Is that it bro, you're supposed to be the final boss" My toughest/most annoying fights 1) Havel - I took him on very early for his ring and paid the price by dying around 30-40 times. No joke, no hyperbole. 2) Smough and Ornstein - 2 V 1. This should end well... 3) Those Anor Londo archers with their big a*s arrows. 4) Those swinging guillotine sections in Sen's Fortress - I'm terrible at platforming 5) Those annoying little basilisks in the sewage network Surprisingly, most of the boss battles were fairly straight forward with the few odd deaths caused by inexperience. Overall a fantastic gaming experience, one of the best games of this gen. Edited January 24, 2013 by Nikushimi
