^^ Man I wish they made more musicals like Jaan-e-man. Dunno why the movie flopped. It was a true musical done brilliantly

Starring Salman and Akshay? The reason it flopped because songs were god aweful. For a good musical, you need good songs.

Oh, forgot to write up on Xmen, which I watched yesterday

X-Men First Class : 6.5/10

I was slightly left disappointed but that was down to me having some expectations noone would normally have, going into this film. I dont know why, but I was expecting it to be a drama rather than an action film. I thought they were fully focussing the story on the origins of the 2 xmen characters and the Mutant Academy etc. I thought the movie for the first 30-40 mins is RIGHT UP THERE with the greatest films made till date. The scenes with Fassbander early on are just mindblowing. I was so awestruck when the bar scene in X-Men reminded me so much of The Basterds' opening scene. While it isnt long enough or doesnt generate the same tension, it come friggin close, and thats saying something. As everyone has pointed out, Fassbander was easily the best and suited the Magneto role perfectly. The guy who played Xavier also did a quality job. Most other characters just went over my head, to be honest. They were never really written too well. The women who played Mistique/Raven, was so bloody annoying. She delivered her dialogues horribly, slowed down the film, could act and looked chubby. Kevin Bacon's character could have been written a lot better, it had so much potential. All his cronies sucked, though. Emma Frost was building up to be a good character and she was cut out. The whirlwind guy did was so useless in the film. Azarael was kick a*s but didnt do much else but teleport behind a person and cut them with a knife.

Overall, its still a pretty fun movie to go to. Its very entertaining, which is rare from these kind of films. But prepared for a some corny dialogues :ninja:

Nice writeup there shekdown. Some valid points in there... even I didn't like the chick who played Raven/Mystique and Angel was such a throwaway character. In fact pretty much all of the young mutants were boring/poorly developed characters. But I guess they had to randomly pick mutants because including the actual "First Class" ones would have messed up already broken continuity even further. I thought Azazel and Riptide (the tornado guy) were the only cool mutants apart from Magneto and Xavier. But overall I'd say its the best super hero movie since TDK. I really liked how Vaughn kept the focus on building up the story rather than going from one action set-piece to the next (that's not to say there wasn't any action, the last 20 minutes or so have some the most epic sh*t I've seen in theaters). I'd give it a solid 8/10 if I had assign a score to it.

PS: The background score f**king owns.

Thanks, man. And yeah, I thought Azazel could have been given more screen time than Emma Frost. And Riptide could have been pretty cool if they made him do anything else other than lift his 2 hands and let CGI take over. Movie could have been a lot better if they removed some of the other mutants. The butterfly lady, the Darwin chap, Havoc(I thought he shot laser beams out of his hands, was surprised). They could have made us genuinely root for the young mutants, then. But still, I have to agree. Its one of the best super-hero films made and best since TDK.

For me :

1. Dark Knight

2. Spiderman 1

3. Xmen 2

4. X Men First Class

5. Spiderman 2

Ofcourse, I didnt watch Thor, Green Lantern and couple of other superhero films. I thought Iron-man 1 was also awesome, but I liked these more.
