Snake
Nice writeup there shekdown. Some valid points in there... even I didn't like the chick who played Raven/Mystique and Angel was such a throwaway character. In fact pretty much all of the young mutants were boring/poorly developed characters. But I guess they had to randomly pick mutants because including the actual "First Class" ones would have messed up already broken continuity even further. I thought Azazel and Riptide (the tornado guy) were the only cool mutants apart from Magneto and Xavier. But overall I'd say its the best super hero movie since TDK. I really liked how Vaughn kept the focus on building up the story rather than going from one action set-piece to the next (that's not to say there wasn't any action, the last 20 minutes or so have some the most epic sh*t I've seen in theaters). I'd give it a solid 8/10 if I had assign a score to it. PS: The background score f**king owns.
Tyler
Havoc(I thought he shot laser beams out of his hands, was surprised). Ofcourse, I didnt watch Thor, Green Lantern and couple of other superhero films. I thought Iron-man 1 was also awesome, but I liked these more. Havoc shoots beams from his chest in the comics. But the more interesting part is that he's Cyclops' younger brother. And don't even bother with Green Lantern. If anything, it'll make you appreciate X-Men: First Class even more. The sad part for me is that GL is my favorite superhero. I like GL/GL Corps wayyyy more than X-Men. Anyway my Superhero Top 5 would look like this... 1. The Dark Knight 2. Batman Begins 3. Blade 4. X-Men: First Class 5. Iron Man (tied with X2: X-Men United) Yeah, call me a Nolan fanboy Edited June 23, 2011 by Tyler
Solitaire
Oh, forgot to write up on Xmen, which I watched yesterday X-Men First Class : 6.5/10 Azarael was kick a*s but didnt do much else but teleport behind a person and cut them with a knife. Considering who's daddy he's gonna be, there isn't that much else they can show him doing for now.

Iron Man (tied with X2: X-Men United) Yeah, call me a Nolan fanboy I remember watching an episode of Xmen Evolution, I think, where he shot beams from his hands. Yeah, remembered he was Cyclops' brother, also. I actually have 0 idea about Green Lantern. Ive never managed to follow, not just that comic, but any other comic either. Growing up, my library never had comics and I didnt know where to buy comics from either, so despite liking them I unfortuntaely never got to read them. I tried reading a few, but I couldnt get through without guessing the next 100 frames correctly. I suppose I would have enjoyed them better if Id read them when I was younger. Eitherway, the point was that I was actually looking forward to GL, it was looking very promising and people said it had a world like Star Wars to be explored. I couldnt wait. Then, ofcourse, like you said and a lot of others said, it was a terrible disappointment. ACtually, I like Batman Begins a lot also. Maybe if I watch it for the 3rd time, itll sneak into my top 5. I watched it last really long back.

I ddint know that. I thought they must be blood brothers or something on those lines. I should probably get the Original Xmen Series, DVD or videos on a HD. Im pretty interested in knowing the stories.

shekdown
Yeah, Azazel and Mystique made him Holy crap, that must have been intense! Solitaire
Hahaha. That was so pointless, but I still cheered Yeah, the loudest cheers were for that part. Holy crap, that must have been intense! Wtf? What was the one-liner? I missed it too. SPOILER ALERT It was simply : Erik Lehnsherr: Excuse me, I'm Erik Lehnsherr. Professor Charles Xavier: Charles Xavier. Logan: Go f**k yourself. And yeah, Mystique + Azazel in the comics was intense enough to make Raven kill her then-husband and bury him It's a pity though, that in the comics, Nightcrawler died somewhat recently (if you follow the comics). dylanjosh
That wolverine part was censored in my cinema People still laughed though. I saw Sucker Punch yesterday. Hated the first half. I liked the second half except for those last 10 mins or so where the movie tries to get all philosophical but everything falls flat. I actually liked the story. The action was ok.. it would've been better had it been brighter. Snyder should've gone for a much brighter style here. (or maybe my version was just too dark.. idk) Hated, absolutely hated the leading lady. 70% of the film her face is completely blank. Out of the rest, half the time she had a confused/dazed expression. She doesn't even look pretty with those fish lips. Urgh. The action scenes were alright. Those girls really act badly though. :/

TechGuitar
Just saw 'In Bruges' The movie started slowly, and the dialogue wasn't all that much humor to me. But I loved the way it ended. Not a must watch, but a good watch still.
Ne0
Ah what a co-incidence shekdown, even I watched x-men first class today with my colleagues. Do you work in my office by any chance ? But I enjoyed the film totally, I wouldn't rate it better than spidey/batman or even for that matter ironman movies though. I went after a hard day at office, and the movie was very entertaining, decent plot, nice CGI and the climax is executed very well. Loved how eric says 'i prefer magneto' in the end. And yeah, even I whistled when wolverine came on-screen. Nice fan service there Ekdum paisa vasool. 7/10. Edited June 23, 2011 by Ne0

An excuse to string together a few video game-like sequences is what it seemed like.
dylanjosh
You're right. Thats one of the reasons I hated the first half. The premise was poor. The story gets a little interesting later though.
dante77
saw Monsters its slow yet it kept me watching till the end. Its more of a love story with 'The Road' type surviving. So, don't expect District 9 or BLA. Worth watch IMO.
achilles
Yeah, Azazel and Mystique made him Just thought, anyone is canoodling with Mystique and just as a prank or by mistake she turns into that same guy. Tyler
^^ She almost does that to Wolverine in X2 when she suddenly turns into Stryker in the tent BTW, as for Sucker Punch, I don't know why you folks think it's "just another action movie". It's not. It's got a unique premise and fantastic well-choreographed action sequences without any shaky-cam in sight. It's a bit too much to expect good acting and a solid plot from it. Although the plot itself is much better than any run-of-the-mill action flick. The soundtrack is pretty good too and is among my most-listened-to music this year. So far Sucker Punch has been the most unique mainstream movie I've seen in theaters this year. TBH I've only really liked 3 movies this year so far... Sucker Punch, Insidious and X-Men: First Class.
