Just watched Senna

senna-film-poster-eng.jpg

Its an amazing and moving film of the the late F1 Driving legend, Ayrton Senna. Im not a fan of F1, infact I dislike the sport, but I absolutely loved the movie. Constructed entirely out of footage from behind the scenes or TV footage along with interviews. It puts together exactly everything Senna overcame to become a triple world champion up to his sad demise on the racing track. Its a must watch irrespective of whether you are a racing fan or not.

Senna : 9/10

Wow.. DVD available in India??

I have been watching a lot of Spanish movies lately.

Saw this one last night. It's called , The Secret in Their Eyes (El Secreto de Sus Ojos). This film has won the Best Foreign Language Oscar.

Expertly written, played and directed. The actors really have eyes that speaks a thousand words.. One of the nicest romantic mystery I have seen till date.

The wonder is that the film balances its many genres, from the horrific rape and murder to the bloom of romance to the ugly politics, with such easy grace. And I loved the Dialogues. Very real, very deep and just when required. Some may find the movie a bit slow.. but I loved the pace by which it opens up the mystery.

I don't know the names of the Actors.. but the two main characters are just awesome Actors.

I highly recommend

Watched Captain America.

Worthless in 3D since its the fake 3D, but a decent flick overall. The action sequences were quite fun and I liked the attention to detail such as the embossed winglets on his helmet and the frequent use of the shield. Red Skull's CGI makeup was pretty awesome as was the pre-serum Steve Rogers.

For Spanish films, you should watch Rec 1 and Rec 2, both horror films. Pans Labyrinth a fantasy thriller.

Motor Cycle Diaries which is the real life story of Che Guevara. It doesnt focus much on his revolutinary days but focuses on why such an intelligent, well educated boy who just became a doctor and was from a rich family, chose to become a revolutionary. Its excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Its based on the book with the same name.

City of God is Portugese, which is somewhat similar to Spanish Ive heard, is one of the best films made till date.

Ammores Perros. The movie inspired Aayuthai Ezhuthu/Yuva. Again rated very highly.

Glad to see foreign movies are being shown some love here

But yeah, I love to watch foreign films, mostly Korean but I've seen others as well.

From the looks of it, I gotta watch The Secret in Their Eyes it seems.

My all-time fav foreign film has to be OldBoy.

Two more films that I would highly recommend are:

1. Sin Nombre

2. Maria full of grace

Sin Nombre , I would buy the DVD and keep, it's that good!! The treatment is astonishing, given its sharp script, technical proficiency and pacing. The cast is top-notch. Very believable. Awesome Cinematography.. Opened my eyes, to the trials and challenges of people that I was not even aware of. Yup, there are some gory scenes and violence but all telling story, and not for effects. Must watch guys, if you have'nt already.

Maria Full of Grace, The Actress who plays Maria..is so compelling, she plays the part so well, taking the film on her shoulder. Totally believable. I really like this show called Jailed Abroad, and this film again depicted the journey of a Drug Mule..but with a difference. A girl who wants to break away, a strong independent , dreamer girl dares to take a risk this big to change her life.. Stunning movie.. Do watch.
