yes they have. i suggest start with sonar kella (golden fortress) - it's a detective story starring feluda (the famous bengali detective). the issue is that all movies are not available on dvd yet. then go on to pather panchali, charulata, nayak, gupy gyne bagha byne, hirak rajar deshe, agantuk (his last). or you can just go through the list one by one - they are all amazing.

but let me warn you that the translations are really crappy. more than half the meaning is lost.

Well a lot of his titles are there on DVD, its just the translations I am worried about.

I'll test the waters with Sonar kella then. Thanks for the recommendation.

I really liked reading the detective stories of Feluda - never saw Kella, the movie, though. And yeah, Gopi gayen, bagha bayen is simply awesome. One cant help but get truly impressed by this guy's vision

^^ sweet. gupi gyne is actually written by ray's grandfather. the whole family was composed of pure genius.

Here's a list of good Ray movies - but requires an appreciation of the political and socio-economic conditions in Bengal of that time.

Apu trilogy - Pather Panchali, Apur Sonsar, Aparajito

Charulata - one of his best movies

Sheemabaddha - actually this one is easier to relate to, portraying a bourgeois Calcutta

Gupy Gyne Bagha Byne - pure unadulterated fantasy fun

Feluda - Sonar Kella, Joi Baba Felunath

Devi

Jalsaghar

Nayak

Well I could go and on, but the above will whet the appetite of many a Ray fan

awsomeee poster bro!!

and even sergio leone films were awsome

the good, the bad and the ugly series was just awsome

I just finished watching The good, the bad and the ugly. Took me 4 days to wrap it off. The long drawn out scenes where everyone is looking around just waiting for the soundtrack to reach its climax become painful after a while.

But enjoyed it on the whole. The music is simply awesome and the Tuco character is extremely enjoyable to watch.

PS: Didin't know "The ecstasy of gold" was from this movie. All this while used to think that it was composed by Metallica

Unforgiven = Eastwoods best.

"That's right. I've killed women and children. I've killed just about everything that walks or crawled at one time or another. And I'm here to kill you, Little Bill, for what you did to Ned."

/Goosebumps.

eastwood is awsome, no matter as an actor or a director, he gives a brilliant performance, i even liked flags of our fathers but somehow liked letters to iwo jima more!

Typical of Sergio Leone's style of direction. Superb action sets punctuated by long drawn out sequences of sheer boredom.
