Tyler Posted January 6, 2012 Report Share Posted January 6, 2012 Couple of movies I saw in the last two weeks: SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS... Hated it! It had its moments but overall I hated it. I loved the first one... I mean really really loved it. It had a good mix of mystery, humour and action. But this time it seems they completely forgot about the mystery and most of the humour came off as lame. I love Guy Ritchie but he screwed up (not his first time though) on this one. The plot was filled with holes and there was barely any real detective work... do you really think Moriarty didn't check his diary even once between the switch and the finale? Plus how was Holmes so sure that his hands wouldn't be tied during the torture? It felt like watching a Pirates Of The Caribbean movie. The only good thing was the action scenes. The train and forest sequence were great and were the only highlights of the movie. DON 2 Surprisingly good! Finally a slick action thriller from Bollywood. It had it's lame moments (thanks SRK) but overall it worked for me. It didn't feel like a embarrasing attempt at making a Hollywood style movie (*cough* Ra.One). In other words - I don't judge them on the same level. For SH2 I had high expectations... considering I liked the first one and it is from Guy Ritchie - one of my favorite directors whereas for Don 2 my expectations were extremely low. Good to see such kind of movies being made in India now ... no stupid song and dance; just straight up comedy and sticking to contemporary Indian culture . Loved Vir Das and others as well.
