Watched "Welcome to Sajjanpur". Definitely a must watch movie. There are a lot of movies about the troubles in our society - but this is the only one I have seen in recent times which deals with them in such a simplistic way. There's a reason Shyam Benegal is such a revered director and it shows in this movie. The script is top notch - the cast is superb - especially Shreyas Talpade and Ila Arun.

I saw A Wednesday by accident. The next time I'd rather have my nuts cut off, deep fried and fed back to me than watch something like that ever again.

:P:ack:

I was planning to watch it. But now, I am having second thoughts!

Don't give them your money.

The message (subtle as a motherucking sledgehammer, btw) is something Indians find very appealing with their closet prejudices and liking for vigilante justice. I am ashamed we make movies like this. Not just make them, but have them generate good word of mouth and reviews from the idiot press corps. Every industry generates nationalistic bigotry now and then, but in India we have nothing to balance the septic tank with. This IS the good stuff, as far as things go.

I saw Anupam Kher play a Jeweler in Ang Lee's Lust Caution earlier this year. It was a very small part but a thankful one; I felt feeling good about him. Not anymore, though. Same goes for Naseeruddin Shah.

It's not just the lobotomised armchair activism storyline either: the direction/production/script and acting are insufferable as well. No more details except to say that the reporter, hacker and the VJ that cameo-d as an actor should all be lined up an shot. In the crotch. And running through the streets may look good in City of God, Amores Perros and The Chaser but sticking a scene of running followed by random violence doesn't make your movie realistic. Not when all that's there to back it up is a septic tank full of aborted ideas.

Awake - Nice thriller starring Jessica Alba :majesty: It is about this guy who is on the surgeons table under anaesthesia but can feel and hear everything that is being done to him but cannot do anything about it as he is technically asleep.. decent thriller.. 6.5/10
