I cant believe people are actually defending 300.

It was a bastardised version (of an average GN) full of fake hollywood american patriotism bullshit. Mixed with some (blatently offensive) racist and homophobic undertones.

Worse still it was badly written and badly acted. Full of cheesy moments and crap filler story lines.

But I guess thats all OK if there are lots of shiny special effects on screen to distract you. Right?

lol wtf, tell me u havent seen 300 yet, then its ok or prolly u hv seen it on that Rs. 10 pirated cd.

or maybe u are talking about meet the spartans.

Meet the Spartans was made on half the catering budget of 300.

Aside from that difference, they're both crap that crap crapped.

The Watchmen ending was changed because apparently the original ending didn't go down too well with the test audience. Although I LOVE the ending of the comic, it works in the comic because it's a comic - people reading a comic are prepared for something like that to happen. Though the comic is about superheroes, it's still grounded in reality and the movie (if most of it is done right), should follow that too. It would be kinda odd for the

alien squid

to show up when most of the movie has been so (for the lack of a better term) realistic and mature... call it The Dark Knight effect. IMO as long as the message and the "theme" of the ending remains the same, it doesn't matter if it's an

alien squid

or a

destructive machine

.

Kevin Smith has seen the movie and according to him the ending works better for the film than the ending of the graphic novel.

Zack Snyder proved himself with the Dawn of the Dead remake.

300 was nice, but not DotD redux nice.

Holy hell! Talk about heresy.

There is just so much wrong with the quote I can even comprehend where to begin.

Say hello to my (quite literally) stinky little friend.

In all fairness though I actually liked the remake. But it still doesnt hold a patch on the original by Romero (which would probably be in my list of top 10 films ever). And 300 still sucks donkey balls.

steve coogan as The Riddler in the next batman.you can just see him in the role.any movie with coogan in it gets an extra star from me immediately, even when he is wasted like in Tropic Thunder.

I never once said it came anywhere near the awesomeness of Romero's dead trilogy. I love Romero and would never EVER do that to him. What Snyder did instead was take the mall premise and craft an actual horror film out of it rather than doing an quasi-Romero social-message-cum-horror plain vanilla remake cop-out.

And there is no denying how good it was. Sarah Polley is a gem of an actress (when shes not busy being my wife) and the fact that she signed on was a huge coup for Snyder. It gave the project genuine legitimacy. Think Daniel Day Lewis doing the watchmen. Not to forget the absolutely frantic intro sequence and the johnny cash powered credit montage.

And yes, 300 was a tad overcooked. A bit toned down and it would have been much, much better.

^^ I enjoyed the hell out of Synder's Dawn remake. And I thought I was the only one who likes Sarah Polley...

@Aftunner: It's your personal opinion that you hated 300 and I respect that. For me it's still one of the most kickass action movies ever made! The graphic novel didn't have much besides half naked men fighting against all odds. For what Snyder did with it is quite remarkable.

Well of course its personal opinion. Thats what the thread is all about.

Personally I thought every change (even though there were few of them) Snyder made to the GN reflected badly in the film. The whole queen sidestory was so god awfull I was grimacing through that.

Like keyo says if he had managed to tone down the Wooh yeah democracy rules you dirtbags.!!111! and the other themes that populated the film it could have been better. Which is why I am worried about Watchmen. Snyders directing is as subtle as a gang rape.

But the man has an eye for cool looking action sequences I'll give you that.
