Â Â not a sequel per se. this movie takes place before, during and after the original 300. it doesnt continue 300's story as there was nothing to continue. it does not have the same characters except the persian king. 300 was a part of larger greek mythos, loosely based on real events, no reason we cannot have spin offs in the same universe. Said battle was a naval engagement that happened simultaneously with the battle of Thermopylae (original 300), just on the other end of the map and with other greeks city states.
