AtheK
Bro, watching Pacific rim for acting is like watching a pron for its plot. IMO pacific rim is all about jaegers, monsters and battles of epic proportion. It is the best movie i've see this year. Better than IM3 and supe i am not saying that it is a bad movie as a matter of fact i liked, def better then superman, but IM3 was still better for me. Just that too much CGI in movies these days, probably the movie i loved this year was Django unchained.

ALPHA17
I'll add the good ones from those that I've seen here, for good measure: Machinist (christian bale flick) -- Crazy film, really shows Bale's versatility. A Scanner Darkly (animated Keanu anyone?) -- Try to watch 'A Waking Life' by the same director. THX 1138 (pre-star wars georgie here) -- Before American Grafitti too, this was one of the post-60's Orwellian-dystopia future genre films. Some films that I would like to see on the list, Pi -- Darren Aronofsky Requiem for a Dream -- Darren Aronofsky Apocalypse Now -- Francis Ford Coppola A Clockwork Orange -- Stanley Kubrick Dr. Strangelove... How I came to Love the Bomb -- Stanley Kubrick Lord of War -- As straight a story can be, worth a watch just because of the opening sequence No Man's Land -- Danis Tanović's debut masterpiece Then there are a handful of Israeli films (based around the '82 Palestine conflict) and a couple of short films that I don't know if you would appreciate. I leave the thread (for now) on this note. Try to watch the full version of the following clip, Hope you enjoy, Cheerio!

piper
Saw D-Day. Decent movie, much better than anticipated. Songs are very moving and intense but situational. I give it a 3.5/5 . Oh and thankfully our daughter slept through the movie so we didn't disturb nobody . Best scene of the movie The scene where they show how Shruti Hassan was killed. It is a very moving scene depicting how she felt as she went through it and how Arjun Rampal was now feeling. Not sure if they have copied the concept from somewhere, but it is the one scene that stands out. Pretty violent, though. Ending spoiler. The movie minus the last 30 seconds would make a whole lot more sense. The way they've ended it has made the entire mission pointless.

Nemo
The most underrated movie if i've ever seen one... Tip: The experience is at its best if you do not read the synopsis or research the movie; otherwise its ruined. Shieet. I forgot to mention Frailty. Pretty good stuff, though has not aged well wrt cinematography. Still it has got some twisted stuff and pre 'drop the shirt at every occasion' Mathew mc'conaugHEYYYY! No Man's Land, I like it because in my twisted logic I hope that Cera gets out of the mess but there really is no way he can survive. This in itself is a twister, not in the standard sense that you have to be bewildered / befuddled but just how this world actually is, same reason why I have put the Darren Aronofsky films up. Strangelove is a straight up satire about how people survived in the paranoia of nuclear stand-off and how one deeply ingrained line of thought can contort reality in a warped mask of itself. Also, the Communist thing that made it to the end because of how the industry was under 'scrutiny' by Uncle Sam. I have already mentioned that Lord of War is a really simple story but I find it one of Cage's best films. Also, Nemo, you have not seen Apocalypse Now or Requiem for a Dream. I am surprised. Go watch them, watch them now before Elysium shows up.
