Its funny cause Speilberg cant resist those mushy happy endings (except for Schindlers list and even that is up for grabs), remember AI which was supposed to have this dark and depressing ending and it was tacked on with that shitfest of an ending dripping with sugar and honey. And Will smith is what I would call a family film star (I could mention I am legends ending here but I digress).

So yeah this should be horrible.

Edit BTW for something that could have been sh*t and doesnt seem to be watch this -

Its some footage from the new Terminator movie. Plus an interview with the production designer. And surprisingly it looks very good.

Well maybe not completely surprising as John Nolan is doing the screenplay and Christian Bale is involved.

^^ Good to know! I watched the trailer and it did look pretty interesting. Also, for a change it's good to see Liam Neeson playing a badass lead character as opposed to his usual "father figure" roles.

Saw QOS first day, I thought it was better than Casino Royal.

Watching Max Payne Today.

Saw TRAITOR. Best movie this year since Dark Knight.

And those who enjoy Simon Pegg, How to Lose a friend and Alienate people is also very funny. (Megan Fox is too hot for words in that movie)

Movie Review: Quantum of Solace

In one of the scenes, a stern faced ‘M’ storms around MI-6 headquarters saying “Find Bond!” For a moment, it was as if she were telling the audience to find Bond, James Bond, the gun-toting, smooth talking, charm oozing spy extraordinaire who managed to charm not only the women, but also the audience all through these years. The movie title read “Quantum of Solace 007”, but it was like watching someone else being assigned the code 007. It wasn’t James Bond, not by a long shot.

The story is simple enough. The movie picks up from where Casino Royale left off. Bond …cough … Daniel Craig want to find the people responsible for the death of the only woman he loved. These people work for some organization known only as “QUANTUM”. Makes for an exciting premise, doesn’t it, but sadly, the movie does nothing with QUANTUM. In fact, by the time you reach intermission, you would have probably forgotten that there was anything like QUANTUM. A man out on revenge … it seemed too much like a typical Bollywood masala flick, not Ian Fleming’s James Bond, or rather, Albert.R.Brocolli’s James Bond.

Daniel Craig was made to look like Conan the Barbarian with modern tools. He had no charm, no sophistication, no sense of humour, nothing. Compare that to Sean Connery, who would greet the ladies with a seductive smile, rattled of the make and year of wine after a few sips, was always immaculately dressed and did everything a an air of utter sophistication that enabled him to move around in higher circles without feeling out of place. The gadgets … where were the gadgets? There was no Aston Martin fitted with heat shields and rocket launchers, no cleverly designed wrist watches, nothing. There was no Miss Monneypenny, no Q. The “Bond Girls”, as we are so fond of calling them were also missing. For goodness sake, Michelle Yeoh made a far better Bond girl than Olga. She was a big let down, specially after Halle Berry and the girl who played the role of Vesper (Forgot her name).

The action sequences were fast paced, but with an air of brutality and raw power that seemed quite out of place here. It was like watching Rumble In The Bronx, except it was Daniel Craig instead of Jackie Chan. Quantum was dangled to the audience, then pushed aside. I really expected to see something that rivalled the concept of SPECTER, the super-villain organization that always kept the audience on the edge of the seats.

The creators of Quantum of Solace forgot one golden rule, If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Hopefully, the next Bond movie will go back to its roots.

I think its high time MGM replace Daniel Craig as James Bond with someone better. That guy can't do a Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan for sh*t. He's more suited to "punch him the face vin diesel in xxx" kind of roles.

personally, apart from the paper thin plot of the film, i like the new bond movies...i can't help thinking they are inspired by the bourne trilogy movie-style somehow and i believe thats a good thing

also, do note that casino royale was supposed to be this bond's first mission so even in QoS he's still young, pretty energetic and a little crude...i'm sure he'll eventually earn his gizmo-mobile and his reputation with the ladies :majesty:

I was never a fan of the "cartoon" Bond, so I kinda like the direction they took with Casino Royale. Connery's flicks were good but they still had their cheesy moments and don't even get me started on Moore's run. The two movies starring Timothy Dalton were actually very different (and good). Pierce Brosnan was a mixed bag... I liked Goldeneye and TND but the other two were awful.

true...i am glad they came up with this reboot...i think it was much needed

btw, a very interesting scenario would be the new bond going after the rogue agent jason bourne...leaving the plot aside, the action would be mind blowing :majesty:

Watched QoS yesterday, average flick with some well choreographed action sequences. Craig was good, story is wafer thin and hence seemed a bit underutilized but apart from that he does fine, especially in the scenes involving him and judi dench. Olga was fine, there have been worser bond girls in the past(Denise Richards). It is definitely not in the league of Casino Royale but that doesn't mean its a bad movie.

^^ correct. QoS just doesn't cut as a Bond movie and Daniel Craig can't pull a James Bond as long as he wears that 'Pissed off' expression on his face.

the whole point of QoS was

that bond was after revenge

...u want him to put on some joker makeup mebbe?

lol, from being pissed off to being a joker :majesty: ? Instead of the two extremes, how about going for a somewhere in the middle of the two ? Just my opinion though, Craig should drop his 'oh im pissed off since my gf got killed look' and be like the previous bonds at least in some parts of the movie.

DC is supposed to play the role of Bond no matter what....

Most actors have portrayed Revenge emotion in several bond movies..they have done it with a flair..

Thats what missing in DC..even he admits that..There is no emotion in him...

He acted 2 movies..see them again and again and tell me if ever he is trying to be a bond..he is just a spy..

I haven't seen nothing in him. like i said before... This is a Bond movie, Not Terminator.

Ppl expects something from bond..the character...at least the last in the trilogy will be a name-saver..i hope..

But QoS is the Best Bond Action movie..never before bond's been so gung-ho...i give that to DC..
