CarbonCore
Watched it, couldn't wait for 2 more weeks for 2D lol. First off, after watching the movie, The first half was a bit like Dark Souls. You'll know what I mean when you see it lol. Although in my case it was first few hours of Demon's souls Movie was just amazing, good-guy-victim Cruise was great as always but I loved Emily Blunt's character, probably her best role since Adjustment Bureau. The action sequences were great and 3D was very subtle. My only gripe is the terrible ending, I wish it had ended when I thought it did, would've been a perfect movie. Overall pretty good watch, if it pops up in 2D I'll definitely go n watch it again.
Tyler
Yeah the ending was a bit of a cop out but I can look past it because the rest of the movie was so good. I read a synopsis of the Japanese novel the movie is based on. It differs quite a bit and has a darker ending. And yeah, Emily Blunt was totally badass. I really wish she was cast as Black Widow as originally planned.
CarbonCore
Btw this was my understanding of the ending.. If you kill an alpha, the day is reset and only alpha knows that its reset, and Tom Cruise gets this power from him. But when he kills omega, it resets again, probably because alpha dies too since he can't live without omega, and everyone else stays dead despite the reset because omega is gone now. And old Tom gets infected again before dying and reseting so he knows what happened but no one else does.I think Omega was the only constant in this clusterf**k of time cycle, so if he dies now, I don't think he'll come back again. Maybe I need to read the book.

STICK3Rboy
OK so I really liked Edge of Tomorrow but I'm not able to shake off the feeling that there's a lot of squandered potential here. - Though the whole concept is cool, the movie doesn't really throw any surprises at you. I was expecting it to have something new up its sleeves, but it didn't. I would have liked the plot to twist and turn a bit. - The ending seemed way too happy to me. I really would have preferred a bleak ending to this movie like how it's not possible to kill the omega at all or maybe how there's no other way to kill it without having Rita die. Something in that vein. - This is a nitpick but the movie shouldn't have held back on the gore. It's a f**king war against ultra fast aliens which are flinging their tentacles around like there's no tomorrow. Show me something brutal. Show me a few scenes where Cage is writhing in agony just before he dies because dying is not an easy thing at all. I know there were a couple of scenes where Cage was trying to avoid dying, but they didn't really do much to drive the point home. At least to me. @Tyler, I do believe the ending is indeed a happy ending. If he dies, I think he would just reset back to the day humanity wins the war. It seems like a cool enough power to have. And if he gets tired of all the resetting thing, he could just bleed out or transfuse himself with someone else's blood. That would kill him for good the next time he dies. @All the people who have watched the movie and read the book, Does the book have the same plot? Or has the plot been dumbed down in the movie? All that said, I still enjoyed the movie. It had a cool concept, good performances from both the leads (especially Cruise.....how much more energy does this guy have left in him?) and some very good action set-pieces. Probably going to watch it again tomorrow

Yeah that makes sense, also I think the Omega was unaffected by the constant resets but killing it also killed it for good since technically it was outside all the time loop stuff. Basically it was watered down for the movie to make it more palatable. Also there's more backstory to the Mimics. Its very dumbed down version of the book and comics to make it hollywood-ish. Edited June 7, 2014 by KyoyaHibari
