I am hoping for 'Edge of Tomorrow' Sequel now!

No please! It was a perfectly self contained movie and should stay that way. Not every movie needs a sequel. Hell one of the reasons why it worked was because it wasn't trying to set up a franchise or continue one.

As for Jupiter Ascending. Man the studio doesn't seem to have faith in the movie. Doesn't bode well. The Wachowskis really need a solid hit, they have been hit-or-miss since the first Matrix (though I have liked almost all of their work).

In other news, director Scott Derrickson has been picked for directing the Doctor Strange movie.

I couldn't have been happier with the choice. The man knows how to direct horror/supernatural flicks (Sinister, Emily Rose and even Hellraiser: Inferno were awesome) and thus perfect for taking the MCU into a more supernatural direction. And knowing Marvel I bet they will pick a good lead actor.

Back from Edge of Tomorrow. Really good movie. Very happy with it. Both cruise and Emily Blunt had great characters and were excellent in their roles.

For those who can watch it, PLEASE go and watch. So many people go and watch crap like Godzilla and good stuff like this doesn't get enough appreciation. I was glad to see theatre was full.

It's only loosely based on the manga right?

Its actually first light novel, recently its adapted into manga, by deathnote, bakuman artist. Movie is mostly same as book, except it doesnt explain stuff as clearly and has different ending. The relationship between rita and cage is a lot better in book imo. Hollywood filmmakers doesnt know how to make good non-sexual relationships :P

So what's the next upcoming movie you can watch in theaters? Transformers?

Transformers (though I'm fully expecting a clusterf**k like the last couple of them)

Guardians of the Galaxy

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (maybe)

True but that also resulted in one of the best jokes in the movie.

BTW Pacific Rim handled the non-romantic relationship well IMO. Though it kinda flirted around it.

I know right? My friends keep insisting that they fell in love by the end

Back from Xmen:DOFP, Must say that I was pretty impressed. Not a x-men fan (except the wolverine movies), but was engaged throughout. Liked it much more than xmen:fc. The plot seemed to have plenty of loopholes, but then again, the time travel stuff is hardly explained properly in movies. So far, the only movie which gave a somewhat satisfactory explanation was About Time , although it was a rom com flick.

Also, did anyone notice how the centennials story arc was somewhat similar to 'the age of ultron' comics ? I felt that even the centennial design resembled the robots in ultron .... especially that whole laser/fire thing shooting out of the face was borrowed straight from ultron comics !

yes. But thats because Pacific Rim is directed by Toro, thats the reason for a mecha film to work out so well. He do a lot of research for his film, and makes amazing films.

He is a big fan of japanese manga, and he is working currently to bring a TV series for monster manga. If everything goes fine thats going to be a breaking bad level show.

The plot is pretty much an adaptation of the actual X-Men: Days of Future Past arc from the comics. If anything the Age of Ultron comic is a mishmash of various other 'the world has ended so travel back in time to stop it' stories (with a horrible resolution I might add). The Sentinels have always been a core element in the X-Men universe.

Also if you want a plausible time travel movie, watch Primer and then watch it again :)

BTW Edge of Tomorrow also gives a semi-decent explanation for time travel (though it's more of a time loop in this case).

Yep, del Toro is awesome. He also has a script ready for a Justice League Dark movie. I really hope it sees the light of day (pun intended).
