Just watched Slumdog Millionaire. It's an amazing movie and is definitely a must watch. Great direction and brilliant acting by everyone. I was expecting a lot from this movie after the great reviews it had got and I was not disappointed one bit!

People, please see this movie ... it's excellent!

Saw The Wrestler. Quite differant that what I had expected. In a good way.

Rourke deserves an oscar nomination for this.

Watched two films back to back.

I really liked The Wrestler. It didn't wow me as much as The Fountain did though :/ But then that's understandable considering the more down to earth settings and general depressing tone of the film. Nice score by Clint Mansell (AGAIN), with Slash playing the guitar sections (loved the piece that plays when Randy

effectively commits suicide at the end of the film

). That might get Umang to put down the controller and watch the movie.

Also saw Benjamin Button. Fincher's worst film hands down. There was so much potential there, but all for naught. Very formulaic (think Forrest Gump + the Titanic) That said, it still is worth a watch as there are a handful of sequences that are well put together.

Just saw "The Girl Next Door" after much prompting from some friends.

I have to say that I actually enjoyed it. And while I'm not a fan of Elisha Cuthbert, this movie has me tottering on the rainslicked precipice of indecision.

Oh thats not good. I was really looking forward to Benjamin Button. But I think I will be Ok with it, I love everything Fincher does. Even Alien 3.

Anyway next on the list is Blindness.

i had a similar reaction when i had watched the wrestler this week...i found it kinda average....rourke was great in the role though

the fountain is one of my favourite movies of all time...although its impossible to comprehend fully, it is a beautiful film, quite under-appreciated IMHO

The Wrestler was also formulaic, I agree. A wh0re with a heart of gold, OMG never seen that before :|

But it still worked because of the unique wrestling world it was set in and because the movies goes

downhill

, which is the opposite of what the trailer suggested. It was also wonderfully directed. There wasn't a single scene that made you cringe. I really liked how a lot of the scenes were improv'd (as you would normally see in a Judd Apatow film, for instance). Rourke catching Ron Killings off guard by asking if he was buying drinks was amazing to watch. He was all 'WTF' for a second before he said okay :wOOtjumpy: VERY good film. Extra good for not including the lame WWE/TNA American mainstream melodrama that has ruined Pro Wrestling. And Extra Extra good for Necro Butcher stapling cash to his forehead and for Aranofsky choosing CZW and Ring of Honor instead of the WWE and TNA.

This is an indie wrestling fans wet dream, and you draw a parallel of how good real Pro Wrestling really is when you compare how real this $5 Million film is compared to the $150 Million Benjamin Button. Word.

It also has another killer working man song from The Boss \m/

Same here, but then again never take what keyo says seriously. He's only seen every movie there ever was. :|

I bet you've seen the Titanic right? Remember the old Rose scenes? Now picture that done 10 times worse and 10 times more embarrassingly. Of course this could just be me, you may like it (in which case I will have to kill you) :| It really is embarrassing, just mainstream oscar baiting nonsense. I don't want Fincher to become Ron Howard to releases a film for every award season. His last decent film was Apollo 13. A Beautiful Mind? Pish..

Btw, IMDB already has Button in it's top 250. So clearly, people disagree.

Edit:

@Aftrunner: This is not the Fincher I know. There are glimpses of how this movie could (and should) have been, reason enough to watch it once. The slightly creepy beginning is one. It all goes a bit downhill from there though; seemed like he didn't know what to do with the reverse aging storyline.

Since The Fountain was brought up, that film gave you more to chew in half the running time.

+1 on the understanding part.

And you have to watch the flick in HD on a large screen, bigger the better. The dreamy visuals will just blow you away. In fact, I had one of the sci-fi visualization sequences looped as my dreamscape wallpaper in Windows Vista.

Never saw Lord of the flies but I did love the book. I hadnt really thought about it till you mentioned but the concept does have some parallels.

Havent read the book that Blindness is based on (its got good reviews though) so I am hoping the movie would be OK.

Plus I am a sucker for all the Post apocalyptic, end of the world stuff.
