I have seen a lot of bad movies but this is by far the worst film ever made. Period. Takes go on for way too long, shots do absolutely NOTHING to serve the plot, character development or provide entertainment value. Editing is a whole other beast. Dialogue scenes end abruptly, location-establishing shots last way too long (or are nonexistent), shots which don't move the characters or plot forward are left in, and most importantly, there are no jump-cuts in this film! Every scene transition has a dissolve effect for some reason! Then there's the sound design..Usually when shooting in a commercial location, the place is closed down for the day and all the equipment such as refrigerators are shut down so that their noise isn't picked up. Either that or ADR is done in post-production in the studio. Birdemic does neither of the above and the dialogue/ambience pops in and out with the most unpleasant effect possible. Surprisingly, dubbing of sound was done for the protagonist walking on the street..but for some reason it sounds 'crunchy', as if he's walking on gravel or tar! Here's a gif image of the birds in the film: Oh, and Tippi Hedren (The Birds, Alfred Hitchcock's 'Marnie') is shown to be in the cast and is billed third..but she's only in the background ON A TV which has Hitchcock's 'The Birds' playing on it!! The guy has made/keeps making a sh*t ton of crap, but there are a few genuinely excellent ones. Yeah he is purely a director's man. Directors can get decent performances out of him. Guru, Yuva and Sarkar Raj are his best movies as an actor. kabhi alvida na kehna both were great bollywood films New low reached. Kabhi alvida had pretty zinda aunties and couples didn't like it cuz they were too uncomfortable with the idea of separation back then. Even remember masand giving it four starts then defending his review later.. Watching Kank with your wife is like watching 500days of summer with your gf. Akele dekho aise movies toh they really shine. KANK was better than all of his other movies except Kal Ho na ho and Kuch kuch imo. Ne0 Posted October 24, 2014 Report Share Posted October 24, 2014 (edited) Kabi Alvida Na Kehna is perhaps the only movie I liked from the KJ camp, many found it too emotional , illogical and all, but I kinda liked it .... same with dhobi ghat, although many people hated it, I kinda liked that movie PK trailer was disappointing , but anyway too early to judge it I guess , considering the director's track record so far .... Avengers 2 trailer was good , looks like they are making it similar to the comics (city in ruins, superheroes gone into hiding and all) .... as long as they get rid of that stupid time travel stuff from comics, it should be as amazing as the prequel !
