arun360
OSCARS ARE UNFAIR. GET OVER IT ALREADY. The Making Of Slumdog Millionaire This featurette would make it to DVD but it's out, lol internet. So we have interviews with the cast, on location shooting... standard behind the scenes drill. If at any point you felt that their heart wasn't in the right place, you're justified in your Slumdog hate.
Aftrunner
btw, anyone seen both 'the wrestler' and 'milk' comment on Sean Penn's deserving the best actor award ? From what I heard Mickey Rourke's was a superior performance. And bollywood song n dance at oscar - PURE WIN However the best moment was when A R Rahman said - 'meri paas maa hai' Yeah Mickey Rourke was f**king robbed, his performance deserved an Oscar. And Rahman speech was quite good too plus the guy is insanely talented so well deserved. As for the rest and the whole SM "does it or doesnt it deserve" topic I honestly dont give a sh*t. Havent seen the film, have no plans to see it anytime soon either.
arun360
Afty, you've watched a lot worse than the 110min of SM. The hype probably killed the movie in your head, so don't bother. Edited February 24, 2009 by arun360
Tyler
^^ It's not just him. I haven't seen it yet and I don't feel the slightest urge to watch it either.
Aftrunner
Its not the hype or the fact that I think the movie is overrated (how can I think its overrated if I havent seent it?). Its not just my kind of film. At least it doesnt sound like my kinda film. I hate the whole underdog wins/romantic bullshit. Maybe a friend or a future GF might drag me to it but on my own I dont have any reason to watch it except idle curiosity. I got better things to do. Death Stryke
OSCARS ARE UNFAIR. GET OVER IT ALREADY. That is exactly what I'm trying to say to those turds who raise this debate on whether or not SM should've won or should we be happy n blah! Dienekes
I'd recommend it to anyone who admires good filmmaking irrespective of genre. Exactly. If you 'just' see it from the technical point of view, its damn impressive. Courtesy: Danny Boyle as obvious
punit
Not sure if "Blindness" has been discussed in this thread so far. Had the misfortune of viewing it this past weekend and it was almost unbearable. I tried my best to stay for as long as possible but just couldn't take it any more and went straight for the exit at interval. Many left before me. Just wanted to check if anybody actually like the movie or had atleast the patience to sit throughout the duration.

m-JeRi
I thght this debate will be over by now.... i guess not... My winner for best picture was frost/nixon or wrestler and the best actors was also from them.... the only awards SM deserved was OST and cinematography.... the movie is a insult to Indians... it portrays India still as a third world country of snake charmers.... No I dont, where did i imply that. Yeeesh dont jump to conclusions for simply no reason I was just answering the snake charmer bit. It has shown the slums of Mumbai. Maybe some bits are "slightly" exxagerated, but the movie needn't show the reality of India. Tha movie was never MEANT to be real anyway. Its not a documentary SM is strictly average. Period. Rahmans music is not his best either. But his music got recognized on an international forum is a great achievement. It nice SM won the awards for best movie and director, but there were more deserving movies. Edited February 24, 2009 by Death Stryke
m-JeRi
^^^ Exactly. Movies are the cultural capsule that others take in about a place. India is not what SM showed. its far better than that. Even the speech that was given by rahman was like "ehhh... saw it cming no big deal..." ... and the award given to result pookutty.. agreed a fellow keralite....so proud... but TDK deserved it more...
