achilles Posted November 28, 2016 Report Share Posted November 28, 2016 (edited) Saw 2 movies over the weekend Love You Zindagi and Doctor Strange. LYZ was really, really good. Deals with a delicate subject and is presented very well. Alia Bhatt gives another performance of a lifetime. Really, I don't think she has a flaw as an actress. Udta Punjab, LYZ, Kapoor & Sons, she has hit it out of the park in every direction this year. And she's a delight in interviews. I can't remember 1 scene in LYZ without her in it and she has overshadowed SRK in their scenes together. Not many *female* actors in our cinema can do that. Doctor Strange on the other hand.. the only good thing I can say about the movie is that it had trippy visuals. Marvel is not leaving their stance of making "goody goody school monitor-ish" films. The dialog is corny as sh*t and there is absolutely no character development over the course of the movie. Actually, scratch that. I wasn't even looking for progression; the characters, none of them were interesting in any way. This guy good. This guy bad. Walker Posted November 28, 2016 Report Share Posted November 28, 2016 Watched Arrival on Saturday. Must say I was well and truly blown away as was the missus. So glad and forced her to come with me. It also helped that I went in totally blind. The atmosphere was spot on as was the scoring. That said it's definitely not for everyone. Oh The movie is a very good non action packed one, heavy atmosphere, great acting, puzzles, tension and suspense. I guess it's for people who can appreciate a well made slow-burn movie. Even then, the last act has the potential to throw some people off. I actually wouldn't have said all this if I hadn't myself seen a whole bunch of people walking out of the theater during the climax.
