I think @adity's problem is with the sheer audaciousness of the idea that suggested dropping into unknown territory was possible without prior experience; similar to what i felt when i watched that particular scene for the first time. When visualizing a vehicle parachute drop, our first impulse is to picture a LZ that's a treeless, grassy, open space; not a narrow highway. And then, leaving aside Ramon, there's the accuracy with which they touched down on the highway. There are just too many ways that drop could've gone wrong.
