STICK3Rboy
@Archit, None of it changes the fact that the soundtrack was overdone and monotonous. You may love it, I don't. And, Was there ever any serious tension between Peter and Rocket? I didn't notice it. If there was supposed to be tension where I'm now thinking there was supposed to be tension, then it was flat and unconvincing, like a lot of other things in the movie. The song 'Father and Son' plays after Yondu and Ego's death when Peter is seen taking care of Baby Groot. The song frames an exchange between a father not understanding a son's desire to break away and shape a new life, and the son who cannot really explain himself but knows that it is time for him to seek his own destiny. Where did this even come from? It doesn't signify anything in the movie. Also, do you know where else there are songs that have some kind of symbolism? Bollywood! Here's an example: "Geruaa is generally considered a color worn by sages and hermits, and thus, here symbolizes people who have left everything to find the One they are looking for. The word geruaa in the song rang de tu mohe geruaa, thus, gives a kind of sufi touch to it, as the lovers here want to get colored ‘geruaa' like someone who has left the worldly things, and just be in love." Google was my friend too in finding this sh*t. Doesn't make the movie any better now, does it? Symbolism, like references, can definitely add to a movie which is already good, but on their own, they can never make for a good one IMHO.
STICK3Rboy
Watched Alien Covenant. The good thing is almost nothing was censored as far as I could tell. But for all the hoo-ha about it being a gory and hard R-rated movie, I was kinda left disappointed with the gore (not sure if I've just become desensitized). Apart from a few scenes early on, the movie didn't really pack much tension either and all the parts with the xenomorph felt very rushed to me. It's still a decent watch though. The visuals are gorgeous and Fassbender was great. Edited May 13, 2017 by STICK3Rboy

It doesn't signify anything in the movie. Sure in the end it's all subjective What I meant to say was they just didn't use any song coz it sounded cool.Movies like Deadpool and Suicide Squad had few songs playing in the background that made no sense to what was going in the screen at all.But in GoTG 2, songs were tied to the scenes. There was tension after Rocket says,"Hope Daddy isn't as much of a d**k as you are orphan-boy". Duh.How can you say 'Father and Son' song had no meaning at all? The whole movie was about the Father-Son relationship.Be it Ego-Peter or Yondu-Peter.He wanted no part in Ego's crazy plan to destroy the whole galaxy and live like a GOD.Ego did not understood his son's desire to break away and shape a new life. That was the whole meaning of the Cat Stevens song. There are lot of scenes in the movie which were emotional and heartfelt. Peter says to Gamora how he never got to play Catch with his Dad while growing up like all normal kids. But he finally gets to play Cosmic Catch with his Dad now.It was such a beautiful scene IMO. I loved this dialogue by Yondu where he says,“That guy may have been your father, but he ain't your daddy,” Also,I liked the originality of this movie as a Sci-Fi nerd. How traversing across the galaxy wasn't just the hyperdrive effect we've seen over and over in Star Wars but there were literal 'gates'.The 700 jumps scene is going to be In my top 10 favorite moments of the MCU. Tyler
Suicide Squad had one of the most obnoxious soundtracks ever. They went "oh 70s classic rock is a big thing these days" which resulted in the same old tracks you've heard a million times in movies being shoved in. Seriously, how many times has "Fortunate Son" been used in a movie? Not to mention the soundtrack didn't fit the style they were going for with the rest of the film. Deadpool's choice of music on the other hand did not bother me. It suited the scenes and the tone of the movie. Star Lord
Lol after the success of first GoTG,it has kind of become a trend these days to use retro songs in movies even though it has no relation to the current scene

Star Lord
Yup the song has numerous references to Old Norse mythology."Hammer of the gods "-Mjølnir."Fight the horde"-Grandmaster has captured Thor and intends to use him as a fighter. That orphan boy line was supposed to create tension? I....don't know what to say....but I think that just made the movie suck even more in my eyes. And there wasn't anything suggesting about any "shaping new life" or Ego trying to "understand his son's desires" or Peter not being able to "explain himself" to his father. Peter only wanted to kill the guy coz he murdered his mother and was about to destroy the galaxy. Also the emotional moments you mentioned didn't feel heartfelt at all to me. They felt forced. But yeah, opinions and all that.
Star Lord
Ego didn't understood why his son would want to stay as a mortal and not inherit his father's superpowers as well. There's also a line where he says some stuff about how everything else is temporary. He clearly says if you do this you'll lose your newly found superpowers.Peter wanted to live the mortal life. mohit9206
Just returned from Alien Covenant. I'll give this movie the same score i gave Prometheus which is 6/10. Just like Prometheus, this movie looks beautiful but the beauty is only skin deep. None of the characters besides David/Walter have any shred of personality. The characters in this movie again make the same dumb decisions that the characters in Prometheus made. So if you disliked Prometheus, you will likely dislike this one too. There are so many things in the movie that don't make any sense when you think about it. So this movie is best enjoyed if you don't think and try to make sense of things. Turn off your brain and only then the movie is decently fun.

pixeljunkie
I Will Focus On My Career As A Filmmaker And If I Act I Will Act In My Film: Kangana Ranaut Well Kangana Ranaut is considering becoming a filmaker who directs her own movies. Good for you! This was the push the Indian Film Industry required all along. Feminists in India please sit up and take notice. This development, however, still isn't a sign of progress because Bollywood had to suffer bruises and Rajamouli & Co. were on the receiving end of very unfair criticism in order for this to happen. I only hope that Kanganas' fans manage their expectations realistically. It shouldn't come as a surprise if some of Kanganas' initial ventures struggle. Please keep an open mind and remember that evidence of sabotage makes for far more convincing criticism. I don't understand if the movie is rated A in India, but still cuss words are not allowed? Doesn't make sense. Also the movie is gory but didn't feel as much probably because its true some of us are desensitized to it by now.

The first movie took goofiness to a whole new level. The shift to Family as a consistent theme is a bit difficult for certain audiences to digest in the second movie. Can you blame them? The recurring theme of the second movie is not enough to festoon the blemishes of certain jokes. For example, take the one where Rocket thinks he's a smarta*s but actually comes across as a sore loser for trying to ruin what could be a happy moment for Peter.
