and a good human being too, but if he keeps delivering movies like Raees, Happy New Year & Dilwale, he better retires, then to put his fans through pain. He should be leading the change in bollywood not re enforcing it's flawed base.

It's not as simple as that. We Indians don't really give a damn if someone is genuinely good or has sincerely good intentions. We just rally behind a "good" person, applying enough pressure on them until they swing in our favor. We only see them as a tool for manipulation.

In India, SRK is a slave to his own popularity, with his fans forming the millions of links in his chains. Bollywood, as a united film industry, could've prevented this. Had they recognised his true potential, they could've groomed him into a more serious, versatile actor.

Years ago, when i spoke out about the caste system in India, i was hoping it would push all of us, as a country, to re-examine our place in today's world. But i have realised since that i had got all of it entirely wrong. It was only when @Neo casually smacked me with the word Elitist, i then realised how easily irresponsible we Indians are. I'm neither anti-elitist nor am i anti-poor. I have and will always be **drumroll** pro-common-sense. Feel free to have a good laugh at my expense.

When i spoke out about the fact that India didn't fit the modern-day definition of a country, i did so only because i hoped it would wake up a sense of responsibility in all of us; eventually uniting us a country. But it had the exact opposite effect. Intolerance in India has grown ever since.

Even my well-intentioned efforts to impede the cheap, unfair criticism directed towards the movie Baahubali: The Conclusion has been in vain. This movie was supposed to be a celebration of thousands of years of culture. It should've brought us closer together as a country. But it was not to be.

I thought my mixed heritage, experiences and past could help create an ideal template for the new Indian psyche. But that is not the case. I have done more harm than good. I have instead become a tool for manipulation that has enabled dangerous, deep-rooted hard-wired tendencies which completely override intelligence and common sense.

My point is that in India it's impossible for any single person to become a beacon of change when the majority want to reinforce the flawed base.

Bro to keep it simple its one against many.. i know where you are coming from but certain things probably will never change for us indians.. i am not saying its good or its bad.. its just there in the roots.. for eg moral policing dont want to go into details as such.. pm me we can talk about to an extent.. but somethings are not changing for us anytime soon..

Change is hard, and unless you can "demonstrate" a direct relation of change to some kind of prosperity, nobody is going to take you seriously. Not just in India, it's the same anywhere in the world. It's basic human nature.

Also, the reason I called you elitist is because of the tone of your posts. Whether intentional or not, it sounded very condescending. It still is, but I'm ignoring it this time as I'll choose to assume that it was unintentional.

BTW, I still don't understand why you had to take everybody's review of BB so seriously and dissect it ? Like I've told you repeatedly before, movie is a subjective experience and not everyone viewed it the same way as you did. Sometimes, you just have to agree to disagree and move on.

Last but not the least, It's a movie discussion thread in a video game message board, so don't take the comments here to your heart , relax a little.... Peace out :D!!

Why even include the word elitist in the discussion? You accused me of being dumb and somehow i'm the one who's condescending?

Have you read through the inconsistent reviews by Indian critics? Do you know how embarrassing it is for us?

*sigh*

Coz you were behaving like one ! you were the one who started constantly complaining about how we all lack critical thinking and incapable of understanding stuff, disregarding our opinions, saying we have no capability to review the movie and only premium reviewers should be doing it and all that ....

now if you still think you were right in doing all that - well I've nothing more to add , let's just agree to disagree !

either ways, snap out of it and chill out :D

That's a dirty lie. You were the first to shoot me down by deeming my conclusions to be stupid. All i said was that you guys have been brainwashed by Bollywood. This was well before i said we Indians lacked critical thinking. I was defending the movie against unfair criticism but you made it personal by calling me elitist and condescending.

Now back off and grow a spine...
