Remakes are OK as long as they do something that sets them apart and aren't a shot for shot adaptation without missing what was great about the original. Plus they need to be good movies on their own.

The Departed worked because it changed the setting which brought a very different feel to a familiar story. Not to mention the cast was excellent.

The Thing (John Carpenter's version) is a remake but has a bigger following than the original because the direction and practical effects were insanely good.

The 90s version of Psycho didn't work because all they did was copy the original shot for shot without adding or changing anything.

The Total Recall remake was crap because they strayed too far and missed what made the original so great, it was too serious and they removed the entire Mars element.

I haven't seen Zinda but didn't they change the main twist to make it more bearable to Indian audiences?

That twist wont work with sanskari audience even 100 years later lol.. it was chanded in a major way.. still it was way better thn hollywood remake..

Saw Kaabil.....A movie with flaws but still much better than Raes....

Hrithik ka fan bangaya hai hum.....so wish he gets these kind of roles . The guy is genuinely very good actor and this is starting to believe much more now.

The movie has quite flaws but still come together pretty damn good....

twist in zinda is a joke compared to oldboy .... you just can't remake south korean crime movies in bollywood , they are way too violent and gruesome for our desi audiences.... just check what happened to the remake of 'I saw the Devil' !

Yeah someone post the oddboy twist. I only saw Zinda and that reason was totally meh.

The bad guy basically sets up events such that the woman the protagonist falls in love with (and sleeps with) is actually his own daughter.

The reason for doing all of that is because the protagonist had caught the villain committing incest with his sister while in school and spread the news around. So the whole movie is him getting revenge for this.
