Actually, without the three different stories tying into each other it could have been just another generic war film. The three different parallels are super interesting because they condense a what could have been an arduous three plus hour "A Bridge To Far" /L.o.C into something that feels incredibly tense.

It just didn't work for me though. Felt like it was a case of 'being different for the sake of being different'. And I'm one of the guys who loved the non-linear approach in some of Nolan's earlier films.

Enough. We do not need this petulant sh*t here, he has a right to his opinion. Unpopular it may be it is still an opinion.

Maybe it is just me then, I have seen way too much pop-culture WW2 stuff that released post war which reduced it to almost grotesque propaganda stuff.

Well everyone's been raving about the movie, so it's not just you :P

And I think I get how you feel about the non-linear approach condensing it into a more streamlined movie. I felt the same for King Arthur earlier this year.

Perfectly understandable. And this is the point behind Dunkirk.

And what's wrong with that?

I find this hard to believe but i'm not surprised. The unsynchronised linear narrative driving Dunkirk is far far less complicated compared to his previous movies. The whole point behind Dunkirk is to prove that non-linear narratives would've been far more easier to digest if movie industries the world-over didn't place so much emphasis on that one word as they have done for decades.

Now I hope they don't reveal everything, especially Superman tease or the villain look. But they will reveal both.

They are gonna reveal steppenwolf in the trailer and his look has been out for long through action action figures..
